A 3 years after they leave high school...

My life was going as smooth as it possibly could. I had been dating Will for an entire 3 1/2 years and our six months mark was coming up. He invited me to go on a date with him at a fancy restaurant because his business franchise had been doing splendid for the past eight months.

I was busy curling my red hair in the bathroom and listening to some new music, One direction was their name. I loved their music, and often got Will into listening to them. Although, he only liked their song "Olivia" and hated everything else.

I had worn my nicest dress, which Will had bought me, and I had my nails done the day before with one of my newer friends.

"Darling are you almost ready?" Will asked, appearing behind me. I saw his smile in the mirror. He was wearing a white button up with a purple tie and black slacks. "Our reservation is at six."

"I'm finishing up," I replied, curling my last bit of hair. I sprayed my hair with some hairspray in hopes that it stayed throughout the night and turned to face my handsome boyfriend. "Why aren't you looking sharp."

He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer. He gave me a kiss on my lips, longer than most, and then pulled away leaving me breathless. He placed his arm around mine, hooking us together, as we headed out of our hotel lobby. This vacation has been amazing.

We saw our uber and got in, and I immediately realized how high quality it was. "Greetings Mr. Afton, where are you heading on this night?" the driver asked.

"Tuscany Restaurant," Will answered. It was only a ten minute drive from the hotel we were staying at, thanks to Will's constant business meetings.

"Good choice," the driver said, stepping on the pedal.

We arrived, and to my surprise, Will opened my door for me. He had been doing it more often, but sometimes it still caught me off guard. He tipped the man and then hooked his arm around mine again as we made our way to the hostess.

"Reservation for Afton," Will announced, a couple of people gasping as they realized who he was.

"Of course, Mr. Afton. Right this way," the girl said. She picked up two adult menus along with a drink menu and led us over to a secluded corner, reminding me of my old library corner I would read in. "Feel free to ask for anything," the waitress added, before leaving us at the table.

We sat across from each other, and Will picked up the drink menu immediately. "Will," I smiled softly. "I thought we weren't going to drink today."

"I'm making an exception, and you should too," he suggested. "It's not everyday we come and eat at Tuscany's."

"Of course," I said, feeling a little out of place.

Will might have been used to being in rich peoples' domain and area, but I know I wasn't. I still felt uncomfortable when the waitress came back and got our orders for meals.

"I'll have the green salad," I spoke. Will ordered right after me, along with a type of white wine for the both of us. He knew I loved white wine.

The waitress moved away and before I knew it, she had returned. I ate my meal slowly, Will eyeing me up and down until I finished. I had left over half of the meal, and he frowned. "I thought we broke this habit," he kept his voice low.

I smiled softly. "I take it you want no dessert," he said after finishing his meal.

"No I'm good," I agreed with his statement.

"Very well," he called for a waiter and they picked up our food but didn't bring a check. I felt very silly when asking Will why. "Stand up and turn around," he said.

Confused, I did what he said. He cleared his throat. "Now turn back around," he said.

I spun around and didn't see him at first until I looked down and saw him on one knee. I gasped and put my hands over my mouth, the tears already rushing to my eyes. He smiled, his own tears forming.

"Clara," he said, taking one of my hands. "Will you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?"

I nodded, not able to say the words. He pulled out a ring and slipped it onto my empty finger. I waited until he stood up and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him into a long kiss. I heard cheers around us and broke away from him. I turned around and saw all of them being my family and his and then the tears came back.

"You guys," I managed to choke out. I ended up giving everyone a hug, which I got a ton of congratulations. I beamed at Will once it was over and kissed him once more, before pulling him into an embrace.

"I love you," I whispered, low enough for only him to hear.

"I love you too," he whispered back. When I pulled away, I saw him wiping his own tears away. "I thought you were going to say no," Will admitted.

I chuckled lightly, brushing a hair out of his face. I cupped his face with my hands. "Why would I say no?" I asked. He shrugged and then closed the space between us once more.

Eventually our party ended, and everyone began clearing out. I was exhausted and couldn't wait for the sleep to come. Will thanked everyone for helping and even left a huge tip for each waiter and waitress. I couldn't help but beam that this was the man I was getting married to. The man who put everyone before himself.

Inside of our Uber I gave him a kiss on the cheek before leaning on his shoulder and drifting off to sleep. I heard him whisper, "I love you, Clara". I tried saying "I love you too" but I doubt the words made it to him without being jumbled up.

I would just have to wait until the morning to tell him how much I loved him.
