I didn't realize how quickly people took notice that the five kids were missing. I would've thought it would take longer, but I didn't mind the early findings. Another thing I didn't realize was that Micheal and Evan were the last two people who saw me in the bunny suit. They obviously didn't get a good look, but it still shook me up a bit.
Clara found out immediately that it was me. She knew my habits and when the boys said a yellow bunny suit, she knew it was me. For some reason, she still loved me. I knew the only way to make me not suspicious was to volunteer to help the police look for any sign of the children. I wanted to make it known that the children were dead, so I left the blood with no bodies in Parts and Services.
I was driving over, and I realized my anxiety made me leave fifteen minutes early. There's nothing more sketchy than showing up early, so I decided to stop by a coffee shop and grabbed a black coffee. I continued to drive down to my business that still had people buying party tables and reserving the place, but unfortunately I had to close it so then the police could inspect it and find the blood I left of the children.
I parked in a spot, seeing the police officers already there and got out, locked the car, and walked over to them. "Good morning, Mr. Afton," Officer Banks greeted me. He shot me a small smile, which I returned.
"Good morning, Officer Banks," I said, reading his nametag. "Unfortunate we had to meet this way."
"Yes," he agreed. "We better not waste any time and begin looking for signs of these children." I nodded and led the officers he brought into the pizzeria, and I switched the lights on.
I walked into the kitchen, pretending to search the ovens for the children. (It would've been morbid if I put them there, but it's whatever). I continued to check the fridges, any small corners, and cabinets. Eventually we all met back up, and one of the officers looked horrified.
"I found something," Officer Lindsey said. "In parts and services."
We all went in there and saw the blood everywhere. Some of the animatronics' heads had the blood splatters on it. I should have cleaned up a bit better, considering that would take me ages to get the blood out of it.
"They were definitely here," Officer Banks said, before turning to say something into his walkie talkie. "Mr. Afton, do you mind coming in for questioning? We need to know everyone who has access to this room."
"I don't mind at all. I hope we can find whoever did this to the children," I said. I walked the officers out, turning the lights off after us. "In fact, I think I'll hire a security guard for night shifts."
"That would be a smart decision," Officer Banks agreed.
"I could do it," Officer Lindsey offered. "What would the shift be?"
"Midnight to six am," I say.
"I'll do it for free, in honor of those kids," Officer Lindsey said.
"Splendid! I'll get my manager to record some things to let you know how all the controls work and everything. He typically did night shift until it messed up his sleep schedule so bad," I pretended to have sympathy for the guy who was killed the last time we got a security guard.
"Thank you Mr. Afton," Officer Banks and Officer Lindsey got into their cop car leaving me in the parking lot by myself. "We will be seeing you shortly at the station."
I nodded, getting into my own car and following the officers to the station. I was annoyed that they needed me to tell them who all had access, but if it was the only way to get me off the suspect list, I'll take it.
I don't expect them to find the children. Well, at least, not until they start to smell. I don't feel like anyone will be able to find them. I think I'll be able to take every single animatronic apart when people start to smell it.
I answered the officers questions until 10 pm. Two hours before Officer Lindsey's death sentence. I went back home to my family, knowing I had just given someone a death sentence. Someone who didn't deserve it.
God that Officer looked like me.
