Natalie

After driving around for a while we decided to go back to my place and watch a movie. Somehow the boys managed to convince Anna, Emma and I to let them pick the movie. As they fought over what movie to watch, I went and made two bowls of popcorn, one specifically for me and one for everyone else to share. The main menu was just lighting up the screen when I walked back into my living room. Grabbing the last open spot on the couch, I nestled into the comfort of the velvety cushions. Placing my large bowl of buttered popcorn in my lap, I glanced up at the TV screen.

"Final Destination 3?!" I nearly screamed.

"Yeah, is there something wrong Natalie?" Niall asked from beside me.

"I - uh - it's just..." I stuttered.

"She doesn't handle scary movies very well," Anna informed the confused group of boys sitting around the room.

"Oh, well don't worry. It'll all be okay. I will protect you," Niall said softly, wrapping an arm around me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his free hand try to take some popcorn from the bowl in my lap. I slapped his hand away quickly, my icy glare meeting his shocked face. A few snickers sounded around us. Niall whimpered softly.

"Mine," is all that I said.

"But... I love popcorn," he pouted.

"Not compared to Natalie you don't. In all of the years I have known her, never has she ever willingly shared her popcorn," Emma stated, a laugh mixing with her words.

"One time I managed to sneak a handful when she went to the bathroom. She came back and bit my shoulder. Then she told me that she knew what I did. I've never tried to take any of her popcorn since," Anna commented. We all burst into a fit of laughter.

"Don't lie! You have tried but have failed miserably! And you call yourself a ninja," I smiled cheekily. Anna replied by sticking her tongue out at me.

Harry was still laughing at us as he reached for the remote, pressing play. I felt my breath hitch in my throat. The movie began and so did my slow, agonizing torture.

I was curled up in a little ball, my knees hugged up against my chest. I had been trying so hard to block everything around me out that I barely noticed when Niall stole the bowl of popcorn from my lap. After thirty minutes of pure torture, I was close to my breaking point. I didn't know how much more of this I could take. My body was shaking uncontrollably, and despite my eyes being shut tight I could still hear everything going on. All it took was a high pitched scream to get me to emit one of my own. That's it, I had enough. I couldn't take it anymore. Running as fast as I could, I made a beeline through my group of friends towards my door.

The chilly spring air surrounded me, giving me the chills. In my hasty exit I hadn't thought about grabbing a jacket, nor shoes. I leaned up against the bone chilling brick wall that made up my apartment building. Even though it made me shiver even more, I didn't move. The cold was somehow relaxing. I took a badly needed deep breath, letting it out slowly. As the cold air circulated throughout my lungs, I could feel my bare feet turning numb against the chilly cement. I didn't realize that someone had joined me until I heard them cough. Looking up I saw Niall standing before me with a light weight sweatshirt and a pair of battered flip flops in his hand.  He reached his arm outwards, I took the sweatshirt and flip flops gratefully.

"Thanks," I said softly looking him the eyes.

"No problem. I didn't want you to freeze and you took off in quite a hurry," a smile pulled up the left corner of his lips into an adorable half smile.
