Niall
Today was the day I would see her mesmerizing eyes again. I could picture them now, the way a band of amber encompassed her pupils and how depending on the light, her eyes would look like a sea of light blues and dark greens mixing together. Unique, just like my princess.
My eyes scanned the small and slightly crowded airport of Duluth, MN. I didn't stop until my gaze landed on a bright green snap back that was resting on top of a short brunette that I almost didn’t recognize. Natalie’s hair was darker and her skin was tanner, not much, but enough for me to notice. Once her familiar eyes met mine I knew for sure that something had changed other than her appearance. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.
It wasn’t too long before Natalie was running towards me at top speed. The biggest smile I had ever seen was brightening up her face. I opened my arms, catching her as she jumped up, crashing into my body.
“Niall!” she squealed happily before she kissed me longingly on the lips.
“Hello to you too, Natalie,” I smiled as I pulled away.
“I’ve missed you so, so much,” she said as she hugged me tightly.
“I’ve missed you too, princess,” I laughed as I set her back down on her feet.
By then everyone had joined together. Along with Anna and Emma, Sandra – Natalie’s cousin – was joining us. Both she and Natalie were the only ones who knew their way around Lake Vermillion, so Natalie figured it would be a good idea to bring her with. Besides, Sandra needed a vacation from her ‘vacation,’ at least that’s what Natalie told me. I have no problem with her coming with. She was really nice to me when I was visiting Natalie last month.
“So, who is riding with whom?” Zayn asked. We hadn’t really thought about this part beforehand.
“I’m with Natalie, obviously,” I comment.
“I want to ride with Emma,” Harry added as he smiled at the blushing blond.
“What a shocker,” Louis laughed under his breath.
“We have the truck and the Mustang. Sandra is going to drive the truck since she knows how to haul a trailer for whatever reason while I lead the way in the Mustang,” Natalie said as she clasped her hands together in front of her chest.
“I call riding in the Mustang with Natalie!” Louis said as he shot his hand up into the air.
“Me too,” Anna chimed in, a large smile spreading across her face.
“Okay, I’ve got my three,” Natalie said with a shrug.
“Emma, Harry, Zayn and Liam, you guys are riding with me,” Sandra said pretty unenthusiastically.
“I call shot gun!” Louis yelled as he took off running towards the parking lot.
“In your dreams Doncaster boy,” I shouted after him. My girlfriend was driving and that automatically means that I have first dibs on riding shot gun.
“You are easily the worst driver ever!” Liam told Sandra as they climbed out of the front seats of the truck.
“You are easily the worst backseat driver ever!” she spat back at him.
According to Harry, those two have been sparring with one another since we left the airport.
“My god, how annoying can you be?” Liam asked, openly frustrated with the new addition of our group.
“Oh I don’t know, about as much as you can be a prick.”
“I am not a prick!”
“I’m no cactus expert, but I know a prick when I see one!” Ouch, that was a good sting.
