"What do you mean I can't go?" I yelled furiously.
"You have work to do here, you can't just go gallivanting off to America after some girl," one of our managers told me after I got caught trying to sneak onto a plane.
"She's not just 'some girl.' Natalie is my girlfriend and she needs me!" I yelled again, becoming more mad at the fact that he couldn't treat Natalie with the smallest shred of respect.
"Niall, your job comes first. You knew that when you signed the contract with us," he said monotonously.
"God this is such bullshit!" I stood abruptly from my chair, angrily running a hand through my hair as I paced back and forth. "Can I at least go for two days?" I asked as calmly as I could.
"Maybe at the end of the week if you behave yourself," he compromised.
"Yes! Thank you!" I said, fist pumping the air.
"I am not promising you anything Niall."
"Still, thank you so much."
Walking out of the building with a big smile on my face I climbed into my Range Rover. Without thinking about the time difference I quickly dialed Natalie's number. My knee bounced up and down in excitement as I waited for her to pick up.
"I love you Niall, but calling me at three am after I had just fallen asleep, not cool kool-aid man," she grumbled into the receiver.
"I'm sorry princess. I forgot about the time difference."
"I noticed," she mumbled.
"Again I'm really sorry princess. I was just calling you to tell you that I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. Management caught me trying to sneak onto a plane, and well they are being an arse. They won't let me go until the end of the week, maybe not even then," I explained.
"Oh, that's okay," she replied sadly. I could easily picture her sitting there cross-legged, fiddling with the hem of her t-shirt.
"I'm really sorry princess, I would be there in a heart beat if it were possible," I say wishing I could wrap my arms around her and hold her close to my chest as I nuzzel my nose into her sweet scented hair.
"Don't be, it's not your fault," she said glumly.
"Doesn't matter 'coz I still am," I say as I lightly run a hand through my hair, ultimately wishing it was her soft, petite hand rather than my own.
"Can you do me a favor?" she asked me softly.
"Of course princess, what is it?"
"Would you sing to me please?"
"Anything for you princess," I say before I start to sing 'Little Things' quietly into my phone.
It wasn't long until Natalie's light snoring could be heard coming from her end. That was something I already missed even with her being gone for only one day. I missed falling asleep to her snoring. Over the past month and a half it had become almost like a lullaby to me. I found it immensely hard to fall asleep without it. I also miss her smile, her laugh, and the way her eyes crinkled in the corners when she did either one of those things. I miss the way she would unconsciously chew on her thumb nail while watching t.v. or reading a book.
I just miss my princess.
Natalie's P.O.V.
I woke up in Anna's bed early the next morning despite my lack of sleep. Once I finished cleaning up after myself I quietly made my way downstairs as not to disturb anyone. Anna's mom was sitting in the living room sipping a cup of tea. Giving her a hug and thanking her for her hospitality, I told her I was leaving. As I wandered down the old and familiar streets of our neighborhood, I easily made my way home. It wasn't too long until I was standing in front of the house that I spent my later teenage years in.
