You bounced up the stairs a little early so that you could help with breakfast. You were used to cooking with Edge, however, cooking with Papyrus was not like cooking with Edge. The smooth dance you were used to with Edge was more like a dance that you didn't know the steps to. Bumping into his side while reaching for the eggs, fumbling around his hands while grabbing for a spoon or a spatula, splashing each other with pancake batter and getting it all over your shirt (good thing you were going to ask about taking a shower before you changed into your clean clothes) and Papyrus's apron.

To his credit Papyrus smiled the entire time, even making you laugh when he joked around with you about stumbling around each other in the kitchen. Edge's booming voice had you jumping so hard you nearly dropped the bowl you were mixing.

"DO YOU TWO INTEND TO DO ANY ACTUAL COOKING THIS MORNING OR ARE YOU JUST GOING TO PLAY." He snapped.

"Edge, we've talked about how to talk to each other when we're in the kitchen." You replied, blushing lightly because you were still so jumpy. Edge was just loud, it wasn't like he was actually yelling at you, you thought glancing at him long enough to watch his scowl drop off his face.

"I...SUPPOSE WE DID, I'M JUST TRYING TO GET TO THE COFFEE POT." He replied, drumming his sharply clawed phalanges over the counter and refusing to look at you, giving you the impression that maybe he wasn't just trying to get to the coffee pot.

"Oh, sorry about that." You said anyway, moving out of the way of the coffee pot. "We're making a big stack of pancakes for breakfast and I'm thinking of cutting some fruit up in different bowls so everyone can pick what they want, any suggestions?"

"I'M SURE WHATEVER YOU MAKE WILL BE FINE." He replied noncommittally, surprising you as he poured his morning coffee.

"Okay...do you want to help?" You asked, giving him your full attention.

"THAT...PROBABLY ISN'T A GOOD IDEA." Papyrus said instead of Edge.

"...Why?" You wanted to know, Edge was really good at cooking and it seemed to mellow him out when he was allowed in the kitchen.

"NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" Edge snapped, surprising you before he turned and stormed out of the kitchen, Papyrus sighed.

"I'M SORRY, I KNOW YOU'RE TRYING TO BE FRIENDLY WITH EVERYONE, BUT RAZZ AND RUS WON'T EAT ANYTHING EDGE TOUCHES AND EDGE OBVIOUSLY GETS ANGRY AT THAT, SO THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING IT'S JUST BETTER TO AVOID ANY FIGHTING...BUT RAZZ WOULD SURVIVE GOING OUT FOR LUNCH IF YOU WANTED TO TRY INVITING HIM AGAIN." He offered.

"...well it's good that you wouldn't mind him cooking with me, because he's been helping me with lunch for months." You replied, beginning to measure out the pancakes in a skillet while Papyrus cut strawberries and blueberries.

"I...WHAT!? WHEN DID YOU MANAGE THAT?" He asked, sounding surprised.

"It just kinda happened." You said, shrugging, "Around the time Ginger started hanging out with me in the kitchen when I made lunch. They both just popped in one day to keep me company and I asked Edge if he wanted to help me cook."

"OH...WELL THAT'S GOOD! WHAT DOES GINGER DO WHILE YOUR COOKING?"

"He just kinda hangs out, I think he said something about it just being calming to watch and listen to us cooking." You replied, suddenly remembering something, as you finished up another pancake you didn't immediately put another one into the pan. Instead you grabbed the egg shells left in your discard bowl, rinsed them out, and put them in a separate bowl to dry with a paper towel.

Then you got started on another pancake.

"...WHAT IS THAT FOR?" Papyrus asked curiously.

"Just something I started doing for Ginger, he likes to snack on the shells so I rinse them out for him and dry them out." You explained, fighting back a snicker when he turned almost grayish.
