Thursday you showed up bright and early with a little cat carrier. Since you had just got him yesterday you didn't want to leave Eldritch home alone all night, so you brought him along for the sleepover.
"I brought Eldritch for a little playdate!" You said enthusiastically, plopping him down on the tiny cat condo Edge had gotten for...
"Did you decide on a name for her?" You asked gesturing to the little white ball of fluff.
Edge turned a little red fussing over the animal, "I-WELL YES THAT'S- OF COURSE THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE EDGE HAS THOUGHT OF AN EQUALLY GREAT NAME."
"I bet it is...soooo, what is it?"
"...why not doomfanger?" Red asked from the doorway causing Edge to scoff,
"THEY CAN'T BOTH BE NAMED DOOMFANGER!"
"You have another cat?" You asked, causing Edge to freeze, glaring at you for a split second before sighing and crossing his arms, the glare melting into a petulant pout.
"A SHORT HAIRED BLACK CAT...SHE IS BACK AT OUR HOUSE UNDERGROUND UNTIL WE CAN MOVE INTO OUR OWN PLACE. JAWS, OUR UNDYNE, HAS BEEN FEEDING HER FOR ME."
That didn't surprise you, and at first you couldn't place why it didn't surprise you, until you remembered the vision Dream had shown you early on in your acquaintanceship, of Edge's house in a world where it was just monsters from his underground, with several trays out for the strays. As rough and prickly as he tried to be, he had a soft spot for them.
"...why not Terror? One of the brothers had called the momma cat an absolute terror, if that's taken Terror might be a good second choice."
"THAT...WON'T WORK EITHER." He replied, turning a little red but not elaborating.
"Okay...bet." You said pulling out your phone. "Hey Red, fantasy name generator or warrior cat OC generator?"
"...what tha fuck are either of those things!?" He asked, turning to face you fully, his eye lights twinkling mischievously.
"You don't know what a fantasy name generator is? It's pretty self explanatory." You replied teasingly pulling up the fantasy name generator when he didn't answer you.
"Okay what about that second thing?" He shot back rolling his ember bright eye lights.
"That's a bit harder to explain...snowball?" You asked, rerolling at Edge's deadpan look, "ummm Warrior cats was a book series that my oldest son was really into between the ages of eight and eleven. He just lost interest in them last year and Luca didn't pick them back up...he's a bit more sensitive though and he didn't like that the cats were fighting each other...Malevolence?"
"ABSOLUTELY NOT. I'D THINK OF RAZZ EVERY TIME I CALLED MY CAT." He said, but did not elaborate.
"But anyway the cats all had like a standard, descriptive way of naming things like Cloudtail, Crowfeather, Ashtail or something like that-"
"ASHFUR." Edge added.
"Yeah like that!" You agreed, continuing to look through random names.
"...FROSTFANG."
"That would work too." You agreed.
"NO HER NAME IS FROST FANG THE BEAST WITH THE CHILLING GLARE." He explained turning the white cat so you could see her striking blue eyes.
"Oh cool! You know I just realized Doomfanger kinda fits into that naming scheme t-"
"SO WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING TODAY?" Edge interrupted, springing up and putting Frost on the cat condo with Eldritch to Red's apparent delight.
