Icy water ran in rivulets down your back as you stood trying to drip dry on the porch. A shiver occasionally wracked your body.
"MWAHAHA YOU LOOK LIKE A DROWNED RAT." Razz jeered from inside the open door.
"Scuse me." Rus said quietly stepping around him to pass you a towel.
"JUST LET HER DRIP DRY, THAT WOULD TEACH HER NOT TO FORGET HER UMBRELLA." Razz encouraged, still looking amused. You didn't think that you owned an umbrella, but you weren't about to say that, you had some pride.
"Yeah, I guess I just rushed out when it let up for a minute and didn't think about it picking back up." You replied. It had stopped thundering and lightning before your boys had even woken up that morning, but the rain had been letting off and picking back up on and off throughout the morning, with no sign of stopping anytime soon.
"Happens to me all the time." Rus replied, making Razz roll his bright eye lights.
"THAT'S BECAUSE THE MUTT IS BEYOND HOPE, BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUR EMPLOYEE, I WOULD EXPECT A LITTLE MORE COMPETENCE." Razz continued to chastise.
"That's true, I'm pretty bad." Rus agreed easily, smiling at his brother, despite the harsh criticism.
"FOUND THEM!" Papyrus called, his long legs carrying him back down the entryway with a few large, fluffy beach towels. "I KNEW WE STILL HAD THEM."
At the appearance of the other skeleton Rus seemed to disappear back into the thick fluff of his hood, gravitating towards Razz.
"Thanks, I'm sorry about all the trouble."
"NO TROUBLE AT ALL, FRIEND!" Papyrus assured you, helping to pat around your shoulders, soaking up the worst of the cold water.
"YES TROUBLE." Razz refuted.
"WELL, NO TROUBLE AT ALL TO ME." Papyrus forged on, not exactly ignoring the shorter skeleton but obviously not letting his words dissuade him.
Once you were what you would consider just damp instead of dripping wet you went in, tossing the towels in the dryer and sweeping, then you were left with a problem.
"It looks like working on the yard isn't happening today, is there anything else we should do after lunch?" You mused.
"HMMM...WELL, FREAK AND I WERE GOING TO GO TO THE HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE TO GET SUPPLIES FOR THE POOL, WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASSISTE?" Papyrus offered enthusiastically.
"Sure, I'd love to hang out with you and Nutmeg." You agreed.
"NUTMEG?" Papyrus asked curiously.
"Oh, I wasn't really comfortable calling him and his brother by their names, So I kinda asked if I could call them something else." You explained nervously, their names still felt heavy and bitter on your tongue as you tried to explain who was who to Papyrus. "I've been calling...Freak, Nutmeg and I've been calling...Horror, Ginger."
"OH, THATS...THATS REALLY MUCH BETTER." Papyrus agreed.
"Yeah, they picked them really. Sooo...back on topic, since we're going out into town today, do you want to also go ahead and get the grocery shopping out of the way?" You asked. To your surprise Papyrus tensed, looking like you had just asked him to go jump in front of a train.
"I...UMM...WELL." He eventually signed, his shoulders sagging in defeat. "I SUPPOSE WE SHOULD." He said, pulling out his phone, and opening up a group chat.
"ANOTHER FUCKING HOUSE MEETING! WONDERFUL, JUST HOW I WANTED TO SPEND MY DAY!" Edge's voice thundered through the house, loud enough to have you flinching back from the sound.
