BAKUGO'S POV
"Welcome home!" my boys yelled when I walked through the door.
"How was your trip?" Daizen asked, practically pulling my duffel bag from my hands and dropping it on the floor before wrapping his arms around me. As soon as they got home from their moms for the summer, I was already on a plane for a week-long mission. I had to miss their first week home because of work.
"I'm glad it's over," I said, wrapping my arms around my oldest son and squeezing him tightly. It's been too long since I've seen him.
"Our turn," the twins said, pushing Daizen away.
"Dad! We missed you!" Kaoru and Kyo said simultaneously while wrapping their arms around my waist. "It's been too long since we've seen you." It had been. The last time they were here was their spring break, which was three months ago. Then before that, it was Christmas. That was the only time I got to see my boys other than summer. I've been tempted too often to move back to the United States because I miss them.
However, being closer wouldn't allow me to see them more. Not unless I wanted to go back to court and fight their mother again. I've considered it, but moving to another country and uprooting everything is a drastic change. One I would need to talk to the kids about first.
"That's for watching them for the week," I said to Daizen. "When I run through the bank this week, I'll grab some cash for you."
"You don't need to pay me to watch my brothers for a week. It's not a big deal." That was something their mother and I disagreed on all the time.
"You're their brother, not their babysitter. We didn't have you first to watch them." Especially for a week when he could have spent that time catching up with his friends, that he rarely gets to see.
"Dad, really, it's fine," he reassured again. "If you want to repay me, I've been craving your super spicy curry."
Kyo scrunched his face and cringed at the thought of anything spicy. Unlike his twin and older brother, he doesn't like spicy food. He takes after his mom in that way. The only time she ever ate spicy food was when she was trying to induce labor.
"I'll make you some normal curry, bud," I told him, ruffling his blond curls. All three of my boys have curly hair. The twins have blond hair and red eyes, which they got from me. However, Daizen takes after his mom and has red hair and green eyes.
"I'll have to run to the grocery store and get the stuff." I picked my bag up and started walking through my apartment. "Let me put this away and shower. I'll head to the grocery store after that."
"We already went to the store," Daizen told me. "We've been waiting all week for your curry. Something as small as grocery shopping wasn't going to delay us from it any longer."
I chuckled. I love my boys. "I'm still going to shower first and change. I'll be quick. Do you want to start preparing?"
"We got it," Kaoru cheered behind me, running toward the kitchen. He's always been a helper. It doesn't matter what the task is. He's always loved helping. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, literally anything. He's such a caring and loving ten-year-old.
I left them to start preparing for dinner while I walked into my room. As I passed the boys' open doors, I smiled to myself. I kept their doors closed while they were gone, so it was refreshing to see them open. Every time they come back, all I can think about is how I survived without them for as long as I did.
After dropping my duffel bag, I grabbed a fresh change of clothes and headed to the bathroom. True to my word, I showered and changed quickly, landing in the kitchen with my boys less than ten minutes later. While we cooked dinner together, they told me about what they'd been up to back at home.
