Episode opens as Ashley breaths a sigh of relief as she sees something she had been longing to see.

Narrator: After two weeks of being lost...

Misty also breaths a sigh of relief as what they see is revealed.

Narrator: Our heroes reach Vermilion City...

Brock, too, breaths a sigh of relief when he sees the sign for Vermilion City.

Narrator: Congratulations, you finally made it!

Our heroes shout "Hip hip hooray!" three times.

Misty: I can't wait to take a bubble bath!

Brock: I gotta hit the laundromat!

Ashley: I have to find the Vermilion City Gym!

Ashley prepares to run forward into the city.

Ashley: Right now!

Brock grabs Ashley by the back of her dress.

Brock: Hold it!

Ashley: What's the matter?

As Brock points down, Ashley looks to see Jigglypuff worn out and collapsed on the ground with her stomach growling and Ashley picks her up.

Ashley: Jigglypuff!

Misty: She must be hungry.

Brock: We haven't eaten anything decent in three days now.

Ashley: Hey, Jigglypuff. You feeling hungry, little buddy?

Ashley stomach starts growling and laughs embarrassingly.

Ashley: I guess we're all a little hungry. Eh, Jigglypuff?

Jigglypuff: Jiggly.

Our heroes soon arrive at the Pokémon Center.

Ashley: Nurse Joy, it's Jigglypuff! I think she's hungry.

Nurse Joy: We'll fix Jigglypuff up.

All our heroes look surprised.

Nurse Joy: I know why most of you are surprised, I look like all the other nurses, don't I? My first cousin works in Pewter City, and my second cousin works in Viridian City. I think I'm the prettiest one, don't you?

Nurse Joy giggles.

Brock: Yeah.

Our heroes hear the doors open and we see a boy running with his injured Ratatta.

???: Hurry! You'll be okay, Ratatta! Hurry!

Brock: That Ratatta's in rough shape. I wonder what happened.

Nurse Joy: that is the 15th one brought in this month.

Ashley: What?

Nurse Joy: Follow me, to the recovery room.

Our heroes follow Nurse Joy and they can't believe their eyes.

Brock: This is terrible.

Nurse Joy: They all lost to Lieutenant Surge, the Vermilion gym leader.

Ashley: Whoa! He must be a great trainer!

Misty: So, Ashley, you scared already?

Ashley: No way!

Misty: Well, you talk big. But when you see how tough it is to get badges, Ashley, you turn chicken. Maybe you should just quit now. The badges that you won were out of pity.
