AJ was furious and confused. He saw his father took his last breath. How was this possible? He looked towards Boss as he wore a knowing smirk.
"You! What did you do?!" Boss had laughed at AJ's outburst.
"Nothing much. I just faked his death. But you really did quite a number on him. He only just woke up." Boss acted nonchalant as he looked at his nails.
"That's quite enough AJ. Stop all of this now. Your brother has done nothing wrong. It was me. I was wrong. I had paid too much attention to the throne that I've neglected you. Please stop it right now. I love you, son" The old King of the North pleaded.
A hollow laughter rang through the forest.
"After all these years, after millenniums. You choose to say this now?! That son who craved for those words is gone, father. Long gone." AJ looked at his father in contempt.
"Then forgive me, my son." The king of the north conjured an energy bow and arrow. He aimed the arrow at AJ, piercing his heart on impact. AJ looked at him in disbelieve as he collapsed.
Joong couldn't believe it had all ended without bloodshed as he sat on the ground in mental and physical exhaustion. He didn't get the chance to celebrate as Dunk threw up blood.
"Bai Loong! Bai Loong..." Joong looked at Dunk in fear as pillowed his head on his lap. Dunk's siblings rushed forward as they surrounded them in concern. There was an aura that Dunk didn't expect within the crowd.
"Father?" Dunk whispered. He thought he was hallucinating but when he felt his father's calloused hands in his. He knew.
"I'm sorry for disappointing you, father." His father shook his head.
"Never, you never disappointed me. You brought the family back together. I'm proud of you, my son." Dunk smiled. Dunk reached a hand out to caress Joong's face. Joong held his hand in his.
"I'm sorry that our time is too short. I love you." Joong shook his head. After all that they've gone through, this can't be a goodbye. It just can't be. There has to be a way around this.
"Phuwin! Phu!" Phuwin rushed over to them when he heard Joong shouted for him.
"How did you keep him alive for so long? How?!" Joong looked at Phuwin in desperation but Dunk stopped him.
"It's no use. It hasn't been working for a while. It's time, Joong. Let me go, love." Joong kept whispering "no" as tears rolled down his face. There has to be a way. The moment Dunk's hand slipped out of his. He panicked.
"Bai Loong! Bai Loong!" there was no response. Dunk's family had started to mourned his death but he won't. No, he won't let him die. He won't!
"Shadow King... the Shadow King will know what to do! Qilin, bring us to the Shadow King!" He secured Dunk onto his trusted pet before riding with him. He prayed that he is in time.
