Prem had never truly liked Joong since the day he tried to trespass his territory. He had the nerve to impersonate him. But the moment he saw Dunk's dire state, he had rushed forward. He had been a good friend. Despite his poor reputation, Dunk had stuck with him and help him through many challenging times that he could never repay him for. He urged Joong to lay him on the bed.
This was bad, this was really bad. He was hanging by a silver thread. Boun had come over when he heard the ruckus that Joong created when he entered the forbidden forest. He noticed the frown on Prem's face as he took Dunk's pulse. Prem shook his head.
"The poison has entered his heart." he sighed.
"Muu, what about the phoenix blood that he collected for us ages ago?" Boun asked. Prem was surprised that he was there. He nodded enthusiastically. It wouldn't harm to try it out.
"Bring it to me, BB" Boun rushed to Prem's magical vault to grab it. Prem went to hunt for the nectar of moonflower and other ingredients that was lost to Joong. He looked on as he stirred the pot. He added the last ingredient that Boun passed to him. Joong looked on as he fed it to Dunk.
"Now we wait. And pray." Prem said. Joong had looked towards Dunk in worry. Qilin had turned back to his miniature size and slept on Dunk's chest. Boun had leaned against the wall as they waited.
Joong was startled when Qilin perched on his shoulder. It was then that he saw Dunk started convulsing. He had screamed in agony. He saw Dunk's veins lit up in an orange glow akin to flame. Prem held him back.
"It's the phoenix blood. It's bound to burn. I've tried to thin it out with other ingredients. Let him ride it out." Prem assured Joong but it was painful to watch. Joong could no longer hold back. He hugged Dunk through the heat that he was emitting. He held on tight as he trashed around. He couldn't stop the tears from flowing. It felt like ages to Joong before Dunk calmed down. He laid a kiss to the side of Dunk's temple before allowing Prem to take his pulse.
"It's better but only time will tell if it's really working. The next three days will be critical." Joong nodded at Prem's assessment.
Joong never left Dunk's side no matter how hard Boun and Prem had asked him to rest. Prem shook his head but he does admire Joong's dedication to Dunk. Joong had looked at Prem, hoping for the best when he took Dunk's pulse on the third day.
"It's looking good but his body will need a longer time to fully heal. It's been in his system for too long... I'm sorry to say that I don't know when he'll wake up. " Joong nodded his head. It's good news but yet it wasn't. He would need to carry on hope for the both of them.
"Shadow King.... I have another favour to ask." Prem looked at Joong curiously.
"Could you help me return Dunk's eyes to him?" Prem was confused by what Joong meant until he used his dragon eyes to look at Joong. It was then that he realized that Dunk's dragon eyes were in Joong.
"Ooh... now it makes sense. I always wondered why that old geezer left a pair of eyes with me. Scare the hell out of me when I first got it. He's always so cryptic, it's hard to understand." Prem mumbled as he went to his magical vault. Joong could finally breath when he saw the said pair of eyes disappear within Dunk. All was finally right. All that is left is for Dunk to wake up.
"Would it be better if we stayed in the house at the outskirt of the forest? There's no way to tell when Dunk will wake up. I don't really want to invade your space any further. I assume his family would want to visit him at one point." At the mention of Dunk's family, Prem agreed. They strapped Dunk on the back of Qilin. Prem help Dunk to settle in and made sure that everything was fine with him before he left.
"I'll visit from time to time to check on his progress. Boun will bring you food for the time being." Joong couldn't thank Prem enough but he waved him off.
"Dunk had come through for me more times that I can count. This doesn't even come close to what he did for me." Joong was curious as to how far Dunk's friendship with the Shadow King ran. How did they even get to know each other to begin with. Joong couldn't imagine how Dunk got to know the reclusive Shadow King.
Joong had written a message for Phuwin and strapped it to Qilin's neck. Qilin instinctively knew what to do and flew off. Joong swept Dunk's hair to the side before getting into bed beside him. He gave him a sniff kiss.
"Fun di na (sweet dreams)." No matter how long it takes, Joong was willing to wait for Dunk. Dunk had waited two thousand years for him after all.

A/N: the danger is finally over. Joong had called Dunk, Dunk instead of Bai Loong when talking to Prem because that is his public name. Prem may not be used it if he called him Bai Loong.
