Gloria shut down her laptop, the blue glow fading from her face as the online class came to an end. The last two years of her life had been confined to the digital world, and now, she was about to step out into the real thing. Her heart raced with a tinge of excitement and nervousness, marking the end of one chapter and the start of another.

I had mixed feelings about returning to in-person school. I missed the vibrant energy of the hallways, the chatter of students, and the connection with my friends. However, what excited me the most was the chance to meet my virtual 'crush' face-to-face, Ray.
Tbh I had spent countless hours scrolling through his social media profiles, curious by his interests, his witty captions, and the carefully curated images that hinted at the person behind the screen. I had never met him in person and that made me even curious to know how he would be in real life.
However, as I closed my laptop and gathered my stuff, another name echoed in my mind—Dean, a constant source of both annoyance and amusement during the real classes. I couldn't deny the tension between us, the subtle competition that fueled our interactions. Dean's sarcastic remarks and playful banter had become an unexpected source of comfort and frustration for me over these 2 years.

As I made my way to school after 2 whole years, I couldn't help but wonder how things would unfold. Would the dynamic with Dean remain the same in person? And what about Ray—would he live up to the expectations I had built through the lens of social media?
The school's bustling atmosphere engulfed me as I entered the building. Lockers slammed shut, laughter echoed through the hallways, and the scent of cafeteria food wafted in the air. It was a sensory overload, and I missed every moment of it.
In the midst of the chaos, I spotted familiar faces, Dean, who was leaning against his locker with a nonchalant expression. Our eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to freeze. Dean hit me with a faint smile and casually walked away. It was like we had never happened, as if we weren't once friends..as if he wasn't my first kiss , As if ... Fuck. The nonchalant vibe he gave off hurt more than I'd ever admit.
As he walked away, I couldn't help but notice he had grown up a bit. His eyes looked different, brown and lighter, with those damn full eyelashes that made him look more put-together. He was shorter than most dudes but still taller than me, and I couldn't ignore how he somehow managed to be both masculine and femininely beautiful at the same time. What the heck, Dean?
I mentally slapped myself because, hello, I was supposed to be all focused on Ray. The guy I had been low-key crushing on for a year through social media stalking. But, nope, there I was, caught up in observing Dean like I was admiring a Renaissance painting.
"Fuck," I cursed under my breath, realizing I was getting all distracted by the wrong guy. Ray was the one with the virtual heart-eyes emojis surrounding his online persona, not Dean. Yet, there I stood, watching Dean disappear into the high school chaos with a stupid smile on my face.

So, here I was, wading through the chaos of the school and it's memories, when Gimmi, the curly-haired girl, caught my eye. Our paths collided, and the conversation flowed effortlessly, a symphony of laughter and shared stories. Then, with a flick of her wrist, Gimmi decided it was time for a grand introduction to her gorgeous friend, Viola.
