We snagged some seats at the back of the auditorium, partly because it was crowded and partly because, well, I was in my costume and didn't want to draw too much attention.
The music started, and there was Dean, strutting onto the stage like he owned the place. I tried not to let on, but I couldn't help but smile at his moves.
He was... decent, I guess. Not exactly my cup of tea, but hey, he seemed to be enjoying himself up there, so who was I to judge?
I fidgeted in my seat, trying to act nonchalant as I watched him dance. It was hard not to crack a smile at some of his goofier moves, but I managed to keep it almost together. almost. That was until I clapped really loud at the end, unable to contain my excitement, and let out a loud cheer for him. I couldn't help it – he had that effect on people.
As soon as his performance ended, I made a beeline for the backstage area, eager to get ready for my own dance and maybe catch Dean before he disappeared.
I pushed my way through the bustling crowd of fangirls surrounding Dean, rolling my eyes at their giggles and fluttering eyelashes. Seriously, you'd think he was some kind of rock star the way they were carrying on.
Finally breaking free from the throng, I caught Dean's eye. He flashed me a warm smile and a shrug, as if to say, "What can I do?"
We exchanged a quick nod of understanding before he mouthed "all the best" to me, his smile widening as he wished me luck. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me.
With a grin of my own, I mouthed "thanks" back at him before disappearing into the main stage chaos to get ready for my own performance.

Stepping onto the stage, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement pulsing through my veins. The music began, and I let myself get lost in the rhythm, moving with a freedom that only dancing could bring.
As I danced, I couldn't help but steal a glance at Dean in the audience. His smile was infectious, and it gave me the boost of confidence I needed to keep going.
When the performance ended, the applause was thunderous, and I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. It felt amazing to be up there, doing what I loved.
Offstage, I was greeted with high-fives and hugs from my friends, but it was Dean's smile that meant the most to me. He gave me a thumbs-up and silently left, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride.
"Wow, you killed it out there!" Viola side-hugged me breaking my thoughts.
"Thanks, Vi!" I replied, returning her hug with equal fervor.

After the excitement of the annual fest, it was back to the routine of classes the next day. As I settled into my seat, the events of the previous night played over in my mind like a highlight reel.
Glancing around the classroom, I caught Dean's eye, and we shared a knowing smile. The annual fest may have come to an end, but the memories would linger, a reminder of the magic that happens when we come together as. Friends.
