ANIKA
✨'And what file is this??? Wait a minute...This reads The Hunter and Co...but I remember another file with the same name in the previous set of files' I almost yelled again. Thankfully I wasn't on the floor. I was in the store room which had a detailed section of files that I would require to read through only to understand how to organize his schedule. My frustration was on another level. I was tempted to just call Linda or Miranda and get their help to sort this out but I couldn't forget the way he challenged and taunted me. I was determined to do this myself.
Finally after gathering 5 big sets of files which had no soft copies stored, I began scanning them so I could start filing them and review them to prioritise them according to their urgency and contact details. I even went through each project and created seperate folders to make a folder full of clients that were critical and highly sensitive ones. Amongst this I got called upon by him once in every 30 minutes for something as stupid as to get him his coffee.
I just couldn't understand why am I supposed to serve him coffee? I mean yes I'm his secretary but I'm not his peon. Everytime I wanted to bring it up, he would ask me about my schedule and I was still preparing one so I would only answer 'I am preparing it Sir!!!' and he would only smirk and sip his coffee. He had really took up my one statement so seriously and he was determined to prove me wrong. He loved Linda. I could say that because anything and everything he spoke with respect to schedule or filing, although Miranda was his ex secretary he kept referring to Linda and Linda's schedule alone.
Not that I had issues with it. The lady has been an asset to this organization for ages. She was not just his secretary but also his mother's secretary but he must try to accept the fact that people get old and also plans need to get updated. I noticed the way of Linda's handling clients was more of regular followups and making day to day schedule. However after going through his schedules I had decided to try something different. It would take me longer hours to do this but we would definitely be able to manage his messed up schedule in timely manner.
I was indulged in prepping it when I noticed the clock had already started ticking 8 pm. Almost everyone had left and only a few folks here and there were on the floor. I still had work to finish. I didn't even realise that I skipped my evening snack time and looking at the unfinished pending work I had, looks like I would take longer. I decided to get myself something to drink. I went to the pantry only to notice there was only coffee available and coffee was not good for my health. I just got myself a glass of water. I started sipping upon it when I heard
'You haven't left yet?' and I turned around to notice Mr Nayak standing behind me with hands in his pockets. He was not wearing his blazers, just the white shirt with with two buttons undone, giving a sneak peak of his well built chiseled chest and black pants. His hair was still tied into a messy hair bun and although his eyes looked tired that bearded face still looked as good looking as ever. The man was living hot mess.
He suddenly snapped his fingers infront of me only to make me realise that I was gawking at him like a fucking owl.
Embarrassing!!!
'I asked you something Miss Anamika!!!' he said and I cleared my throat saying 'I have some pending work Mr.Nayak!!! I'll just finish that and leave!!!' I replied him promptly when he narrowed his eyebrows saying
'As much as I remember...this is your first day to work and I don't think you can finish all your work on day one. Leave some for day two as well. And anyways...you must take care of your health too. Especially in this condition.' he said the last line softly. My eyes widened and I bit my lower lip.
He cares.
I smiled and said 'Thank you Mr.Nayak. I was just finishing some pending wo-'
'There is always a little more to every little less Miss Anamika. I think you can finish the rest of it tomorrow.' saying he took a step closer to me. My lips parted when his blue eyes bore into mine and he whispered
