✨'Di...No... please!!! This is ewww!!!' I yelled when Di narrowed her eyebrows and I cleared my throat and simply opened my mouth. She stuffed a spoon full of oats into my mouth.
'I hate milk!!! Ewww!!!' I said when Di shook her head saying 'No DNA test needed!! Roshni is your daughter!!! One hundred percent confirmed!!!' saying she stuffed another spoon of oats into my mouth. I didn't argue with her. She was going back to Sydney today. I would miss her terribly. She has been giving me company for the last 3 days that I have come back to consciousness. But I was also happy because now Anamika would be taking care of me. Till now she has been taking care of me and Roshni simultaneously. But we hardly got time for each other.
Mornings she would take care of Roshni while Omkar Anna, Kevin or Simi would spend time with me. Hospitals here don't permit home cooked food however upon special permission, I can eat one home cooked meal abiding by the restrictions from dietician. The reason I crave for lunches. Anamika cooks it. I love the fragrance of even a simple home cooked Dalia. It reminds me of Mom. Our mother was from Bhopal. Although she had mastered the Gawd Saraswat Brahmin cuisine, she would also feed us the delicious Madhya Pradeshi food. Di loved the Mom's Poha and I loved the Kebabs. Mom made the finest Kebabs to the yummiest Khichdi. The one Anamika made yesterday, almost had my eyes moist. It just transported me back to the days mom cooked for us.
She was becoming the light to my dark life. From a simple meal to an elaborate gesture of hugging me infront of the whole world. Her eyes spoke so much without saying anything. My body went numb as I felt her warmth. Her reddened eyes, her pale face, her dishelved hair, her loud cries gave me all the answers that I was dying to hear from her mouth. And I'm so happy that she would personally take care of me from today. Although I'll miss my elder brother and elder sister, I was super excited about having her closer.
Just when I was thinking about her the door opened and my eyes fell upon her. In an beige colored salwar kameez, her long hair tied into a huge bun, absolutely no make up, she looked tired and dull although breathtakingly beautiful. And then there was that bright red coloured vermillion residing in her hair partition. Just a pinch of it made her look like the most beautiful woman on planet earth. She kept looking at me and I did the same when suddenly our reverie was broken by a man who barged into the room saying 'Umm...It's time!!!' and we both looked at him.
Di's secretary. The man has been revolving around Di since last two days like he's a honeybee and my Di is a sunflower. He keeps whispering every other minute in her ears. Wonder what stories he has to tell to my Di. Maybe he tells her even before he goes to pee and poop. And surprisingly Di who used to get annoyed by such leach like employees actually listened to him. Wonder if my Di is actually adjusting to this idiot or this guy knows black magic.
But then I think it's her age. She's turning 40 in a few months from now.'Kiddo!!! I have to catch a flight!!! You take care of yourself ok?' she said as she kissed my forehead and I smiled saying
'Di... Ummm you were going to introduce me to your boyfrie-'
'I am getting late Kiddo!!! Gotto rush!!!' she hurriedly picked her handbag and phone and paused looking at her secretary. He kept looking at her with a wierd expression but he immediately left the room saying 'Excuse me!!!' and left from there.
Told you!!! He's wierd!!!
Di who stood there for a few more seconds cleared her throat saying 'Bye Kiddo!!!'
