They didn't know whether Adrián had told others that their suspicions about Lorena and Fermín were right or not. But they knew they had to make sure he kept thinking they were together. So it was time to make plans for their fake relationship. Not something Lorena ever expected to do with anyone but that was her life now.
"We'd have to spend time together".
"Right", nodded Lorena.
"I'm already driving you home after classes so that's something".
"You've done it before".
"Yeah", he agreed. "And we could meet in the cafeteria to study together when I don't have training right after class".
"Like we have been doing".
"Sure. And we already sit together, meet every day by your locker, ...".
"We don't have to do anything different, do we?", pointed out Lorena, causing them both to laugh.
"You know? I was thinking that maybe now was a good time to talk about more kisses...".
Lorena picked up a notebook from her locker and hit Fermín's arm with it. He laughed and tried to take it from her hands, but he only managed when she was laughing harder and loosened her grip on the notebook.
He leaned down to whisper to her. "I said kisses, not you hitting me".
"It's my love language", she shrugged.
They kept laughing while she picked up all the things she needed for class, not realising Adrián was looking at them the whole time. Seeing their interaction...yeah, he believed they were dating. And he wasn't happy about it.
The rest of their first week of fake dating was pretty uneventful. Fermín missed two full days of classes and, when he came back, was received by Lorena and all the notes she had taken the last few days and that he would need
"You're the best", he said, kissing her cheek when he realised Adrián was staring at them. They didn't talk more about kisses but that was just an innocent friendly kiss on the cheek. He kissed his teammates too. It was fine. "I'm buying you lunch today".
Once the classes were over for the day, they left their books in Fermín's car, since he was going to drive Lorena home again, and went to find some food.
"What do you want to eat?"
"You know? I'm weird sometimes".
"Sometimes?", teased Fermín, raising his eyebrow.
"So funny. I was about to say that I usually want crap fast food when I eat out but I fancy a salad at the moment. Too many days only eating sandwiches and pizza and my body screams at me asking for some vitamins and nutrients and all that".
"Let's get a salad then. Good choice for me too, I have training later".
They spotted a supermarket near the park and got inside to get their salads and something to drink. Maybe some dessert too.
"Don't get the same one", said Lorena when she noticed Fermín grabbing the same salad she had picked.
"Why?"
"Because we can share our food. If you get the same, it's boring".
"Alright...", he put the pasta salad down and found another one that looked good too.
"Smoothie for you, healthy boy?"
Fermín took a can of Coca Cola instead of the smoothie Lorena was holding. "If you don't tell anyone, we're all happy".
She laughed, shaking her head and picking a little pastry on her way to the checkout. She wanted to eat healthy but...that didn't mean her sweet tooth completely disappeared all of a sudden.
Once they had everything, they picked a bench to sit on and eat their food. The weather was perfect. Sunny, not too hot but not cold either. Barcelona was always one of the best places to live in the world, but it was even more perfect on days like that one.
"Which one did you get?"
"It's got tortillas to make wraps", said Fermín, staring at his salad. "I didn't think this through. I'm going to make a mess".
"It'll be fine".
But it really wasn't. Fermín was struggling a bit to fold the tortilla to make a wrap and Lorena kept chuckling.
"Can you help me?"
"Sure. Look", she asked him to hold the wrap on the side so she could show him how to fold the bottom part so the food wouldn't fall. "See? That's how you do it and now it'll hold the food while you eat".
"Amazing", he took a few bites before offering the wrap to Lorena. "You want to try it? It's really good".
She nodded and took a bite. "That is really good. Feel free to use your fork to eat from my salad. The olives are amazing".
While eating, chatting and laughing, they forgot they were at a public park full of people. People who could see Fermín and recognize him now he played for Barça. He was still getting used to more and more people knowing who he was. And to being asked for photos while he was out doing the most normal or boring things. Lorena didn't even think about that since she wasn't famous herself and tended to forget Fermín was too. That was why they didn't notice the teenage boy who took photos of them to post on social media with the caption "Fermín López and his girlfriend?"
The plan was to fake date to keep Adrián away. Their families knew about the relationship but thought it was real. They never talked about making the fake relationship public by posting on social media or anything like that. But now they didn't have to worry about that anymore. Someone else took that decision for them. Now everyone knew about Lorena and Fermín's relationship...or they thought they knew about it.
