But despite trying, Fermín didn't notice Lorena getting closer to him again...but the complete opposite. Why was she acting like that? He tried asking her if she was ok and she said she was. But he could tell Lorena wasn't being fully honest. So in a desperate attempt at saving their relationship, he decided to go see her when she was back with her parents. Fermín had missed two days of classes due to a match and needed to sort the situation out if he wanted to be able to concentrate during training.
It wasn't easy, though. He knew Lorena's parents didn't like him, so he planned to text Lorena and get her to come out of the house to talk. Hopefully without her parents knowing he was there. But then...he heard it. The argument.
"Are you going to stay home with us this weekend or do you have any matches to attend?"
"I'll be home", said Lorena, and Fermín hated how empty her voice sounded.
"Good. That way you don't embarrass yourself again. I can't believe you're still with that guy".
"He didn't do anything, dad".
"He made you look pathetic in front of the whole country, Lorena".
"Well, to be totally fair, he just showed everyone what she is. Pathetic", it was Lorena's mum who said that and Fermín couldn't believe a mother could say that to her daughter. But he still needed to hear what her dad had to say.
"I just don't even understand why Adrián still wants you, Lorena. He really is so in love with you, he is willing to look past how you've let that wannabe footballer use you".
"Use me?"
"You've spent the night with him. We know you have. That's all he'd want you for".
"Funny, because it was your perfect boy Adrián who didn't waste any time getting me in his bed".
"Take that back!", screamed her mum. "Just because you've turned into someone so trashy, doesn't mean you get to say those things about someone decent like Adrián".
"Not my fault you bought his good boy lie".
"Get out of my sight, Lorena", that was her dad again. "It makes me sick you're my daughter. We did everything to raise you to become a good woman and this is what we got".
Lorena was happy to leave the living room but knew she needed some fresh air, so she got the rubbish bag and went outside to put it in the bin and let the cold air calm her down. But when she was out, she saw someone there. And after her initial scare, she saw who it was.
"What are you doing here?"
Lorena put the bag in the bin and sniffed again. Looking away, not wanting Fermín to see her cry.
"I came to see you but...".
"You got a peek at my great home life. Yeah, I would run away too if I could", she was walking back to the door and Fermín couldn't let her go again.
"You can".
"Not all of us earn stupid amounts of money for kicking a ball, Fermín. Rent prices are quite high in Barcelona, you know?"
"Come with me".
"What?"
"I mean now, come to my place. You can get away from this for a couple of hours at least".
"You live with your parents", she reminded him.
"I know".
"I never met them".
"Then you can meet them now. I'm not letting you here alone knowing you'll have to deal with being screamed at like that".
Lorena thought about it. She knew she needed to keep her distance but...it sounded tempting to go away. And it sounded even more tempting to be with Fermín.
