"And you all need to stay this extra half hour, it goes towards your final grade so there's no way out. Sorry".
Everyone groaned hearing their professor announce they had to stay longer for their final class of the day, but Fermín just looked at his phone and shook his head.
"I have to leave".
"You can't", told him Lorena.
"I'll be late for training. It starts at 4".
"You can make it on time".
"Not if I drive you home", he reminded her.
"I can go back by myself".
"No...".
"I'll go to training with you then. I can do my homework there. Fermín, you've missed too many classes already. You need to stay for this".
"I guess...", Fermín knew it was a solution but still wasn't sure about it. "I have to drive Gavi too. You could stay with him in the gym".
"Sure, I'll babysit him".
"He's older than you".
"Tell him to act like it", she shrugged and Fermín smiled at her joke and leaned down to kiss her cheek.
"López! Don't make me separate you".
"Sorry", he told the professor and they both concentrated on the assignment.
They actually had to stay there for another 40 minutes so Fermín almost ran to the car, followed by Lorena.
"That was a workout", she complained when they were in the car. "Where is that bottle of water you always keep in your car?"
"Really? Maybe you need to join in the training to get your fitness to be a bit better".
"I'll do the same workout Gavi does".
"He still can't run. It's mostly him getting massages and sitting down and moving his leg".
"I know. Sounds like my kind of workout".
Lorena noticed Fermín driving in a new direction, not the usual towards his house, and soon saw the reason why. A happy Gavi waved from the front door of his house before walking to the car.
"Lorena? What are you doing here?"
"I didn't have time to drive her home so she's coming with us. She will stay with you in the gym".
"If that's ok", she added quickly.
"Sure. It gets boring there, you can tell me some jokes. Maybe we can bitch about Fermín like we do at the matches. That kind of stuff".
"Sounds good".
Fermín looked at them quickly, pretending to be offended. But it meant the world to him that his best friend and his girlfriend got on so well.
What he didn't like so much was seeing all the people waiting for them at the entrance of the training centre. He was used to it but didn't want to expose Lorena to that. Not yet at least.
"Oh no. Sorry about this. The fans wait here and I've got a Gavi in the car so we have to stop".
"Don't use me as an excuse. You also get a lot of girls asking for a photo...", said Gavi and Lorena frowned and looked at Fermín.
"And boys too".
She shook her head and tried not to think too much about all the people surrounding the car. It was making her feel claustrophobic.
"Oh my God", said one of the girls on Fermín's side of the car. "It's her".
The rest of the people wanted to see who her was and Lorena didn't know which way to look.
