『 Wishes 』
July 4th 2015 Kate and Alex were having a Fourth of July party with some of their school friends at Kate's house. Alex came over early to help set up. They were putting food on the table when Alex decided to splash a cup of punch he had gotten for himself on Kate.
"OMG! Alex!!"
"Oops." Alex said in a teasing manner.
"I'll get you back for this!"
"I'd like to see you try." Alex coyly remarked.
"Ugh I have to change now! And you're cleaning the punch from the floor because you spilled it."
"Alright, that seems fair." Alex said in defeat as he went to the kitchen to get a towel to wipe up the punch.
Kate was annoyed she had to change but then remembered she had recently bought a new dress, so she decided to wear it. It was a black dress with lace over it and lace sleeves. She was really happy with this dress and thought it would be nice to wear for a celebration so she thought it was the perfect time to wear it.

When she came down the stairs she saw Alex stare for a moment but decided to ignore it. What she didn't know is Alex thought she looked like the prettiest girl he has ever seen. He didn't want to admit it though so he looked away slightly.
"You look nice."
"Thank you."
Alex was trying to think of something else to say. Then the doorbell rang. Alex was relieved that the previous interaction between him and Kate was cut short. Kate went to open the door and their friends Amy and Jack were ate the door. They only invited 2 of their closest friends because they were not big on huge parties. When they came in Alex and Kate gave them both hugs.
"You look well." Jack said to Kate.
"You don't look to bad yourself." Kate joked. This made Alex feel weird but he didn't know why.
"You look good too Alex." Said Amy
"I- Thanks you look nice too."

After a while of chatting, Eleanor made some barbecue for everyone. While they waited they started a game of monopoly. At one point during the game Alex was in jail and Jake landed on one of his properties.
"I own that one."
"Ok? I'm not paying you."
"Why not!?"
"You're in jail."
"And??"
"I'm not paying a criminal."
"That's not how you play!!"
Kate sighed and looked disappointedly at Amy and shook her head. "Jake, give Alex his $200, you landed on his property."
"I have to check the rule book."
"Alright go ahead." Amy said (she was very annoyed at this point and was ready for the game to end)
"So what does it say?" Alex was losing patience
"I have to give you your $200"
"Ha! Told you!!"
"Alex." Kate looked at Alex with a serious expression as Jake reluctantly gave the money to Alex.

Just then the food was ready and they went outside to eat their barbecue. Dinner was a bit later than normal so it was quite dark outside and people were setting off Fourth of July fireworks. Kate was looking at them mesmerised by the colours and patterns.
One really loud and big white red and blue firework went off and Alex turned to Kate.
"Make a wish."
Kate closed her eyes and made a wish. (She wished Alex would always be her friend (and that she would win the archery tournament next week))
"So, what did you wish for?"
"I can't tell you."
"Please."
"If I do, it won't come true."

After dinner they continued their game of Monopoly. In the end Jake went bankrupt first, then Amy, then Alex and Kate won.
"You always win." Jake complained
"I'm just good with money I guess." Kate shrugged
"Well you mom does own a security company."
"Amy, I don't think Kate would have much to do with money in a security company." Alex stated mater of factly
