『 Graduation 』
June 6th 2021
After 4 long years in high school, it was finally graduation day. It was a bittersweet day for everyone. It was sad to say goodbye to everyone and their high school life but it was the beginning of a new chapter of their lives. The morning before graduation the Phantoms met up one last time. They went to the school together for the graduation ceremony.
They arrived in the gym where everything was set up and everyone was talking to their friends. Everyone was reminiscing over their last few years in high school. The room was filled with excitement, nervousness and anticipation. There were some students still putting up decorations like balloons and signs and Maya was one of them.
At around 11AM the ceremony began and all the students were sitting at the front of the gym in their graduation caps and gowns with their parents sitting behind them.
Once the ceremony was finished the students gathered around and threw off their caps. Everyone cheered and smiled, happy of their accomplishments over the years.
Alex went over to Kaye and gave her a massive hug, then she leaned in and kissed him.
"We did it, we survived high school!" Alex said happily.
"We did!" Kate saw the rest of their friends come over and they all had a big group hug.
"I'm gonna miss you guys," Kyle was getting a bit emotional.
"We have to keep in touch during college alright," Maya added. She put her hand in the middle of the group and the others followed suit.
"On three. Say "Graduation!""
"One, two, three, GRADUATION!!"
They all shouted graduation and raised their hands.

The group walked out of the gym hand in hand as they talked about future plans and sharing their favourite memories from high school. As they parted ways, Alex wasn't watching where he was going and a car that was driving almost crashed into him. Alex was terrified and closed his eyes but there was no impact. Alex opened his eyes to see what happened. He saw a wall of sorts made of what looked like shadows between him and the car. He stared at it for a moment and then it disappeared and he walked back onto the path.
The driver was still in shock and had not continued driving. The driver behind them honked their horn and then the first driver continued to drive.
Alex looked at his hands and saw his friends come over to him.
"What the hell just happened? Did I do that?" Alex was slightly panicked after what had just happened.
"That was sick dude!" George said enthusiastically.
"Are you ok?" Kate put a shoulder on Alex's shoulder.
"Yeah just in shock."
"So what was that?" Kyle asked
"No idea..."

Alex decided to go to the library to do some research. It took him a while to find something helpful but he ended up finding a book about mutants. People with a genetic anomaly know as the "X-Gene". These people, scientifically known as "Homo Sapien Superior", have special abilities.
He then decided to do some research online and he found some scientific studies on mutants. Alex found an entry about mutants who could control shadows, this explained the odd things that were happening around him.
He decided to tell his parents what he found out and when he did his parents were much more at ease knowing what caused the earlier event and knowing he was ok.
Alex found a mutant support group, a few block from his house, which was a group created to help young mutants control and understand their "powers". He decided to join and it was very helpful.

A/N: I made Alex a mutant so he can be useful when I bring him into the 'Hawkeye' storyline. Please ignore the fact that I just stopped mentioning archery, soccer and photography at random points during the story.
