『 A Big Step 』
February 3rd 2018 Kate has been thinking really hard recently about Ruby after she had talked to Alex. She wanted to try and ask her out but was nervous because she was a girl which made it a little less likely that she'd reciprocate her feelings. She had been trying to watch how she was acting lately and Kate noticed she had been a little flirty and they talked a lot and spent a lot of time just by themselves studying or talking about shook or hobbies.
At this point Kate was also learning more about her feelings towards Ruby and she had decided they were definitely different than her other friends and some times she felt the same was as she did about Fiona. This friendship was different to her other past friendships.
She decided to pick up the courage, tell her how she felt and ask her out in time for Valentine's Day.
That afternoon after all 6 of the friends finished their homework and were free, they went to the movies to see 'The Maze Runner: Death Cure' because Kyle practically forced them to watch the series with him and wanted to see the latest movie.

When Kate arrived Alex and Ruby were already outside waiting. Alex saw this opportunity and have a sly look at Kate.
"I'm just going to go to the bathroom. I'll be back in a bit." Kate glared at Alex and he smirked.
Kate thought this was her time to do it. She might as well do it now.
"Rubes?"
"Yeah, Kat"
"Can I tell you something."
"Of course. What's up?" Ruby asked, genuinely caring for Kate.
"So... I don't want this to change anything and you don't have to say yes..."
"Kate..?"
"Rubes, you're a great friend and I-I think I like you. I like like you. If you don't feel the same it's completely ok, u under-"
"Kat," Ruby laughed, "Come here." Kate went and Ruby gave her a big hug. "I like you too."
Kate looked up at Ruby, "Wait, you do??"
"Yeah. I thought it was kind of obvious, wasn't it?"
"Maybe to others but I was clueless."
"You seriously didn't notice me flirting back at you. Yes I know you were flirting with me too."
"I just didn't think you'd like me back. And if I'm completely honest I wasn't sure you like girls at all."
"Yeah, I get that a lot. It's because I'm so feminine, most people expect girls who like girls to be more masculine." Ruby sighed.
"I didn't mean it like that." Kate looked at her apologetically.
"I know. You wouldn't, you're a good person."
"So um.. do you wanna go out with me?"
"Are you the best archer at our school?"
Kate laughed, "I'll take that as a yes." Ruby laughed too and pulled Kate in for another hug.
Just then, Alex came back. "Did I miss anything."
"Not much just me and Kat getting together." Ruby gave Kate a quick peck on the cheek.
"It's about time!" Kate then playfully shoved Alex's side with her elbow.

Then Kyle, George and Maya came together. Kyle thanked his mom for dropping them off, then they made their way over to the others.
"Sorry we're late. I forgot to bring my wallet." Kyle says sheepishly, "... And I only noticed Faye we picked up Maya."
"It's ok." Ruby smiles.
"We have news! Tell them Kate."
Kate rolls her eyes at Alex, "Me and Rubes, we're together now."
"Called it! Pay up Hughes."
"Alright, alright." George handed 5 dollars to Maya.
They then headed into the movie theatre and payed for their tickets. When they were going to their seats Alex swapped with Ruby so she could be next to Kate.
During the movie Kate and Ruby rested their heads on one another and shared popcorn. Alex thought it was cute and he was happy for them, but a small part of him was sad and jealous of them. He tried to focus on the movie to distract himself but out of all the friends he was the least interested in it.
After a while Alex felt more jealous. He was mad at himself for feeling that way and at around halfway through the movie, he got so annoyed at himself and why he was feeling so upset about this situation and he decided to leave.
"I'm feeling a bit sick, I think I'll head home." He told George, who was sitting next to him, before he stood up.
