Bonding

May 14th 2018
Kate had tried to forget what happened that day after the trip to Coney Island and she had pushed it to the back of her mind and didn't focus on it but it was still at the back of her mind.

She had subconsciously avoided time alone with Alex recently as a way to not let this weird feeling escalate but she felt bad since they haven't been hanging out like they used to in a while.

Kate was doing homework at her desk, when there was a knock on her door.

"Come in." She said not looking away from her paper.

Alex came in, "Hi."

"Oh, Alex, hi." Kate turned around and was a bit surprised.

"Sorry to come with no notice." Alex said as he rubber the back of his neck.

"It's fine." Kate replied earnestly as she closed her text book.

"I just came to talk to you a bit if that's ok."

"Yes of course."

"Alright, so, I've noticed you've been a little distant lately and I wanted to know if you were doing ok."

"Oh have I? Sorry, I didn't do it on purpose." Kate half-lied.

"It's fine, I was just checking in on you." Alex smiles slightly.

"Thanks a lot, Alex."

"You're welcome." Alex paused for a moment, "If something was bothering you or was wrong, you would tell me, wouldn't you?."

"Alex, we're best friends, I'd tell you anything." Kate looked at Alex and took his hands into hers.

"You know, you're the best best friend ever."

"So you've had different best friends before!?" Kate says in mock offence as she held her hand to her chest.

Alex chuckled, "No, you big idiot."

"Oi!" Kate playfully punched his arm.

"Alright, alright, sorry. No, Katie, that is not what I meant." Alex corrected himself.

"Better, much better."

"Glad to be of service, miss."

"That was cringe, never say that again."

"You're right. You know, that felt so weird to say."
