Slender sat back in his seat, regarding the four people sitting in chairs in front of him. Two of his most 'fateful' proxies were prepared to lie to him, two of his smartest students stupidly walked out of the door, and to top it off, all four lived despite having been in Zalgo's realm for hours. Slender hadn't read many people's brains since coming here. In truth, it was bothersome, so he didn't do it often at all. Now though, he collected the story from all four their brains. He didn't want them to lie. Not with the war going on outside the castle walls.

Deciding to give the four a chance to be truthful, Slender put his hands together and said in their heads. "Tell me what happened. Every word of it, no details left unsaid. I will know when you lie."

The four seemed to glance at each other. Slender didn't read their minds, but he knew they were agreeing to tell the truth, the two students more reluctant than the other two.

"Fine," Valley said, "The whole truth—"

"I'll start," Charley volunteered, "It was my idea after all."

Slender gave a small gesture he should hurry, and Charley started.

As Charley explained about him losing hope about it all, his idea that nobody would live in the end anyway, he had just wanted to investigate the door they had found.
Slender knew Charley would feel like this. In fact, he had hoped for this.

Valley was next. She told Slender about agreeing to the plan. She herself was curious about wether the portal would work, and who Zalgo was, of course. Again, Slender had hoped for this. He had even made sure to place the right books for her to find in the library.

Then Masky spoke up. He talked about overhearing. Slender had not planned this, but he was curious of what Masky would say. "Sir, I was following orders is all."

Slender gestured to the two students. "And they are still alive?"

Masky looked away, saying nothing.

"For me," Hoodie started explaining about how he had followed Masky. Hoodie was honest, casual. He either knew he was in the right, or he knew he was in the wrong and had accepted it.

"So you entered Zalgo's realm after finding the portal," Slender tilted his head to the students, "You found guards, what did you do to these guards? Avoid them? Kill them?"

Valley shrugged. "Of course we avoided them at first, we hid from them, making sure not to cause a ruckus."

Charley nodded. "We simply wanted to find a window to see where we were."

"A window?" Hoodie asked, "All that for a window?"

Slender glared at Hoodie for speaking out of turn.

"Actually," Valley said in a final tone, "That's an interesting question."

"Mh?" A confused Masky glanced at Valley. He didn't understand, but Hoodie just shrugged at him, fidling with his hoodie.
Slender was amused, had Valley really recalled her first day here? And had Hoodie remembered it as well?

"So," Slender folded his hands once more, realising he wasn't careful about sitting back as though he had no care about wether these children lived or died. "You found a window, and let me guess. You got caught by Masky, or Hoodie?"

"We did," Charley nodded with a bit of a smile, "And then we got caught by the guards."

"And by the way," Valley send the two proxies a smile, "That was totally your fault."

Hoodie pointed at Masky, but Masky pushed the finger away quickly.

"Interesting," Slender said, "So you got locked away? I suppose Zalgo's needs information about what I'm planning to do to whatever army he'll send in the future."
