My first story, ever! Please, be gentle(^∇^). It's really short, but they do get a bit longer as the chapters progress.
(Mikuo's P.O.V.)
"Well, this is the last time we're moving. I hope you make friends here, kiddo." My older brother, Xikuo, ruffled my teal hair.
I sighed, looking up at the so-called haunted mansion that my brother jumped at the chance to buy, even though it was just me and him living together. Our parents died, ten years ago. I was five and Xikuo was thirteen. We were both put into different orphanages and barely saw each other. When he turned eighteen, he came for me and he's a fit guardian, if you ask me.
Now, he's twenty three and is the CEO of some big company. He's super rich, hense, why he was so insistent on getting a mansion when it's just going to be the two of us living here.
"Hey, let's get our stuff inside. It looks like it's about to rain." He told me.
After about six trips, we had our luggage inside. Our furniture was going to be arriving in a few days.
We.......are a little different than other people.
Xikuo has a eidetic memory. This is why he was able to remember what orphanage I was being kept in after five years.
After taking some kind of IQ test, I found out that my IQ is somewhere around 140. I felt like Xikuo had a whole new respect for me after he found out. He even talked to me about his work and asked for help, occasionally. It made me feel good that I could give something back to him.
Though, we found out after I fell from a tree and snapped my neck, that I was indeed dead. Maybe dead people are just smarter than the living. He's even told me that I have the fragrance of vanilla. Like, when our parents were still alive and we should bake pastries. Most of which included vanilla. He eventually concluded that I had died with our parents.
He hummed, looking outside, "Here comes the rain."
Sure enough, it started pouring. The thunder and lightning soon followed.
"Mikuo, come with me."
I cocked an eyebrow at him, "What, scared?"
"Dude! I actually remember every horror film I've ever seen! At least your smart enough to know that they aren't real!" He pointed at me, accusingly.
With a slight roll of my eyes, I followed him through the mansion. Due to the fact that no one had lived in it for some twenty years, the lightbulbs were no-goes.
"Wow, this place is huge." He looked around.
The lightning temporarily lit up the hallway.
He jumped, "God, Mikuo. You actually look like a fucking ghost in the dark."
"Really? My, I wonder why that's so?" I sarcastically jabbed at his stupid comment.
He huffed, not answering me.
A/N: Yeah it's kind of a slow start, sorry about that. (−_−;) I couldn't think of a cool, unique way to really introduce the characters and the story, so I figured just moving somewhere would leave somewhat of a clean slate.
