It was lunch and, as promised, I was meeting Luki in the courtyard. He was sitting at the base of a tree, leaning on the trunk.
I sat down next to him, "Luki? You ok?"
He let out a heavy sigh, "Not really. My parents are making me get together with some girl. She's rich and they want in."
"What?" I blinked.
"It's so stupid, I hate this. They're telling me that I have to get close to her so that we can get married or some shit." He rapidly shook his head.
That's crazy, I can't believe people would use their children to get money.
Trying to comfort him, I placed a hand on his shoulder and lightly squeezed, "I'm so sorry. Luki, if there's anything I can do, tell me. I want to help you."
He sighed, again and looked up at me. But, he gasped, taking my hands in his, "Mikuo! Please, you have to do something for me!"
I stiffened at the outburst, "A-Anything."
"P-Please. Please, pretend to be my boyfriend!" He asked me.
I stared into his light blue eyes, "Pardon me?"
"If I tell them that I'm in love with someone else, I'm sure they'd slowly ease off. Please, just until they stop." He begged.
This is insane!
I did say anything, but I wasn't expecting this!
"Luki.....I don't know......"
"I know, it's not fair of me to ask you....... but, please....." He pleaded.
There is absolutely no way in hell.
I let out a sigh of my own, "Alright, but just until your parents get off your back."
"Ah!! Thank you, so much!" He released my hands and hugged me.
I patted his shoulder, "Right, you're welcome."
(Later......)
"Ok, we're done." I said, saving the last changes to our history report.
Akaito stretched his arms, "Finally."
Today, we were sitting at a real desk. Well, I was. Akaito was lying down on my bed.
I turned to him, to see that he had my pillow on his face.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
His voice muffled, he said, "You know, you smell really nice. Kind of like vanilla. It suits you."
I snatched the pillow from his face and smacked him with it, "Quit smelling me!"
He grabbed the pillow from me and hugged it, "No, it smells good. Sweet, almost. I don't want to stop."
"You're weird, give me that!" I reached for it, but he rolled off the other side of the bed, chuckling at me.
I tried to go around my bed, but he only got on the bed, again. He buried his face in the pillow.
I tackled him onto the bed, only for him to toss it away, at the last minute. I narrowed my eyes at him, but he laughed openly at me.
I tried to get up, but he rolled us over so that he was above me. He was still laughing at me.
This is different. He hardly ever so much as smiles at me, and now here he is, laughing at me like I told the joke of the century.
When he finally calmed down, he held onto his amused smile, "Mikuo, your reactions are hilarious."
He reached down and softly brushed his fingers against my cheek, "Maybe that's why I like you, so much."
..........
What.
