I stared at him, eyes wide, "This is your mother's?"
He nodded, "I've seen pictures of them."
"Then.........my parents didn't steal them."
"Yours didn't. But, someone's did." He glared at the jewelry as he put it back in his pocket.
When I finally came to my senses, I said, "We have to get out of here."
We left the bathroom and went down the stairs.
"Hey, Mikuo!" Meito stopped me at the bottom.
"H-Hi, Meito."
He looked at me. Then up the stairs. And back at me.
"What were you doing up there with Akaito?"
"Well, he was feeling tipsy and he was dealing with a headache. I found some aspirin for him so it's all good." I gave a nervous laugh, "Anyway, Xikuo wants me home, so-"
"Oh, sorry! I'll see you, Mikuo."
I left the house and saw Akaito waiting for me, down the street at the corner. We started walking home.
"Mikuo, come with me."
"What, where?"
"To my house. My parents have to know about this." He said.
I slowly nodded, "Of course, but.......why do I have to come with you?"
"I want you to be there. Please?"
We stopped at the streets that went in the direction to my house, or Akaito's house.
"Yeah, ok."
We turned down his road. I suddenly felt my stomach churn, uncomfortably.
"Akaito.......I have a bad feeling." I said, quietly.
He took my hand and started walking faster. We got to his house and he opened the door.
"Welcome home, dear. Oh, who is this?" His mom, I'm guessing, smiled at me.
Akaito stood in front of me, "This is Mikuo Hatsune. But, mom-"
"A Hatsune? Could you not finish the job yourself?" His dad, I'm guessing, came down from upstairs.
"Stop, don't touch him! His parents didn't take mom's jewelry!" He pulled out said jewelry.
"What in the name of-"
"We found them at some guy's house, he was throwing a party, tonight. These were in his parents' room." He gave them to his mom.
His parents were quiet, exchanging looks to each other.
His dad asked, "And just.......whose house were you at?"
"We were at Luki's house. I don't know his last name." Akaito mumbled.
"Megurin." I said.
"Megurin. Of course." His dad growled.
Like father, like son.
"You know them?" Akaito asked, relaxing in front of me.
"Yes. Though, there was a time when we were close. However, there was a fight and it eventually turned into a feud. Then, we just ignored each other." His mom explained.
Akaito asked, "What are we supposed to do, now?"
"Our first choice would be to kill him. Though.......we might need to rethink this." His father said.
