Lunch came around rather quickly. We still have two more periods after, though. I waited in the photography room until Meito came.
"Whew, I thought you might've forgotten." He approached me.
I smiled, "Of course, I wouldn't. I offered."
He led me to the cafeteria and to a long rectangular table. I sat next to him as he took out the worksheet. We started on it, together.
"The first half of the front page is all correct. But, number seven is wrong. It wasn't a huge mistake, but still." I continued with explaining the problem to Meito.
"Oh, hey. I guess you two know each other."
We both looked up to see Luki, Rin, and Nero standing on the other side of the table.
Meito nodded, "Yeah, Mikuo's in my math class."
"Oh? Mikuo, you're a sophomore?" Luki asked, sitting across from me.
I answered, "No, I'm a freshman."
Rin's jaw dropped, "Whoa, really? Same, but I take geometry. You're two whole math classes ahead of me!"
I shrugged, "Yeah."
"Wow. Are you taking AP classes?" Luki wondered.
I said, "AP history and AP biology."
"Ah, I have AP biology, too. Sixth period?"
I smiled, nodding.
"Good, I was actually hoping to have more classes with you. Besides music and gym, anyway." He returned my smile.
Meito puffed out his cheeks, "Oh, my god. Stop stealing my tutor, I need help!"
(After lunch.......)
Me and Luki went to AP biology, together. We spoke back and forth about nothing in particular. Luki seems like a nice guy. Nicer than that guy, Akaito.
We sat in random seats.
"This class is pretty much independent study. There are worksheets and packets that we have to do before the marking period ends, but as long as you prioritize, it's an easy class. And we only have to pay to take the final exam." He explained to me as the class began.
I nodded to show that I understood everything he had said, "Ok, I think I follow."
He smiled warmly at me and I couldn't stop myself from smiling back.
The period passed, quickly, both of us working on the same assignments, together.
"Mikuo have you ever gotten an IQ test?" Luki suddenly asked me, his voice serious.
I looked up from my sheet, "Um. No, why?"
"Really?" He pointed to my stack of already finished work.
I sighed, "Right."
"Do you have eidetic memory or something?" He asked.
"No."
He hummed, "You.....you really are smart, though. I'm a year above you, but you're not struggling, in the least."
I looked into his eyes, not knowing how to answer that.
The bell rang.
"Aha, so I'll see you, tomorrow." He got up.
I followed suit, "Yep, see you."
He went down the opposite direction than me.
I found my way to my last class, AP history.
I was sat in a seat, in the back row, next to the wall.
"Ooh, good."
My body went rigid as I heard the familiar voice of someone I saw, earlier. To my sarcastic delight, he sat next to me.
The teacher didn't have much to say. She just told us that we were all going to be doing a pairs report. She handed out the sheets of paper that had the requirements on them.
"You'll be working with the person next to you. You have two weeks from today. Cite your sources."
No.
I felt Akaito lean towards me, "Looks like we get to spend a lot of time together working on this."
My eyes flickered up to him, to see a smirk settled on his face.
"You are allowed to look at me longer, you know. It's not fair if I'm the only one."
I kept my eyes on the paper, "Can we just do this? Please?"
"As you wish, then."
To my surprise, he stopped the harassment, completely. No more innuendo, no weird remarks. He sat a reasonable distance from me.
"So, would you be ok to stay in the library, today? I just hate leaving things to be done, last minute." He asked.
I actually looked up at him, normally, "Um, sure."
"Ok, then. We should be able to get a bunch of stuff done."
"Oh, yeah, right. With a freshman as a partner, you'd be lucky to get a B, if that." Another voice sneered.
We both looked up to see a guy with green hair and eyes smirking down at us.
Akaito rolled his eyes, "Whatever, Gumo. Mind your own business."
"Of course, I don't have a partner. Since I'm the smartest person in the school, I don't need someone holding me back. I'll get an A on this, easily. Oh, but good luck." He went back to wherever he came from.
He looked to me and said, in a low voice, "If you're gonna ignore someone, ignore that bottomless bag of douche."
I blinked at the advice.
He hesitated before asking, "Have I seen you, somewhere, before?"
The question caught me off guard.
"Huh? Um, I don't think so. Why?"
He let out a small sigh, "It's nothing. Never mind."
We went to the library as the bell rang. Everyone bolted out of the building as we arrived.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I have an emergency, the library is closed, today." The librarian told us as she hurried out of the building.
Akaito sighed and looked to me, "So...... do you want to come over?"
He must've seen me stiffen at the question, because he said, "Uh, forget that. Can I come to your house?"
I thought about it.
Xikuo probably won't mind. He's not going back to work until Friday, so it's not like Akaito and I will be alone.
"I don't mind. But, we're in the middle of moving in. We'll probably have to work on the floor." I mumbled.
He nodded, "Sure."
