Hezekiah's POV

FLASHBACK (The Day before the Execution)...

I never knew anyone who was graduating from a well-respected Christian private school pay a visit to a fortune teller. But after being left to my own devices for most of my life and being a wallflower while under the watch of all the teachers of Allendale Christian Academy; I knew that I needed to know of my real destiny since Chance wasn't around anymore, may he rest in peace.

"Ah, my child," the fortune teller- a gentle-faced older woman dressed in a flowy dress and her hair wrapped in a red scarf- greeted me as I entered into her small store. "I can tell that a young man as yourself is burdened with many obligations and responsibilities yet was never allowed any freedom, yes?"

I nodded, surprised at how she know of my home life so well. "I'm a wallflower who's treated like old furniture at best and a chess pawn at worst," I replied softly.

"Ah, of course," the fortune teller purred in her strong Eastern European accent as she led me to a table that had a crystal ball at the center. We sat down, the woman taking my right hand and gazing upon it with heavy scrutiny. I remained silent, knowing that it was foolish to interrupt someone who was heavily involved with the occult.

"Oh, my," she breathed after a few minutes. "My child, you have been given a rather unfavored life, one that you lived sinlessly while facing lots of disdain by your family."

I nodded. "My mother said that I was a product of rape before I was born. While my older sisters and younger brothers got unconditional love from our parents, I had to remain in the background and out of the way," I explained. "While I did everything right, my parents thought that I wasn't meant to be in their family, my mother wishing that I was dead or never born."

The fortune teller gave me a sad look. "Oh, my child," she said morosely. "I'm afraid that her wish will come true."

That was a kick in the groin that I didn't expect. "What?"

"She took my hand. "Your star of destiny has shown me that your life on Earth is at an end after your graduation," she intoned, pointing to the star-shaped mark above my middle finger. "What's more, you have no lifeline here on Earth, as if you were not meant for this world just like I am not meant for this world. Your life will end by the people who should've cared for you like their other children."

I was floored, yet had a semblance of peace in my heart. "At least I know who will be the one to end my life," I commented.

"My dear child, you chose a life of hardship yet endured it with grace and dignity. Know that your death will trigger the butterfly effect when the proud will be brought low and the meek will be raised high." She gave me a hug. "And I only wish that your final day tomorrow will be full of peace."

She stood me up to my feet and led me out of her shop. "Go, and savor your final hours while you can," she advised. "I pray that you find peace in the afterlife."

Who would've thought that the following day when I came home and greeted my parents would be when her words would come to fruition?

PRESENT-DAY,  The Honeymoon Suite of the Pacifica Vista Resort...

"Kiah?"

I snapped out of my thoughts, taking in Chance's face as his concerned stare bore into my eyes while we lay naked in bed. I stifled a yawn as I took in the now-setting sun of the balcony window. "Sorry," I muttered. "Got lost in a trip down memory lane."

"What about?"

I took a deep breath before recapping him about my one and only encounter with the gypsy who predicted my death and how I wasn't meant for Earth after all. "I never really gave it much thought until after I came to the Void and learned of my fate," I finished. "I mean, a small part of me hoped that I wasn't going to die just yet, but now? I guess life has a way of changing things up on you. Now that you and I are here together, I just want to know that there might be a future between us. I know of the vows we exchanged to each other, but I want to know if you meant what you said to me."

Chance sat up before he pulled me to his embrace. "I meant every word, Kiah," he replied, making me face him with his tone brooking no argument. "I fell in love with you the first time we met, even though we had to keep our feelings for each other at bay to avoid backlash and criticism. Even when Fuller and you family had you stay away from me and my family forcing me to stay away from you, I knew that you were the one. And as for our lives on Earth, we knew that we could only count our blessings while we could because fate would decide that we never stood a chance against the odds. Now that we're married and bonded together as soulmates here in the Nexus with all the time in eternity, we can truly begin a new adventure full of surprises and hopes. It won't be easy since there'll be challenges and all, but we can promise each other forever and more."

He pulled me into a deep kiss that seemed to last for hours but it was only for several minutes as our tongues waltzed and swirled around each other. "This is the start of many kisses and passions that I want to share with you as my husband," he vowed fiercely. "I love you, Hezekiah Chamblee-Dalton, and only you."

I felt my skin burn with desire. "And I you, Chance Chamblee-Dalton," I replied breathlessly. "Make love to me, Chance. Take me beyond the stars with your power."

He didn't have to tell me twice. For the rest of the night, our initial honeymoon night was one that I hoped to become one of many more. I was home at last.

Cumulative word-count so far: 34,627 words.

It's so hard to say goodbye to a good novella that I am proud to write. But the last chapter is going to be the end of the story with promises for what's to come in the future. Stay tuned, folks, because the grand finale is coming up next!
