the day had been long and boring like usual, the only fun part was that it ended.

of course Otis had lunch with Adam again today, he was starting to believe that it was going to be their new schedule. he didn't mind that.

He has no clue why Adam randomly decided to walk up to him one day, and basically never leave him alone after, but he wasn't mad about it.

Adam had other friends, that was very obvious. Otis seen him talking to a bunch of people in the hallways, classrooms, and basically anywhere in the school, yet the last cupule of days he had spent most of his time with him.

not to mention every time Otis would pass by, Adam always made it a point to tell him hi. it was honestly kinda funny, he acted a lost puppy most of the time.

Otis just assumed Adam would eventually get bored of spending his lunches with him, but that didn't mean he wouldn't enjoy his company while he had it.

at the moment Otis was standing by the lot waiting for his mother to pick him up. he was listening to music and spacing off, like one does when dying of boredom. his mom was running a little late.

that was a little dramatic, Otis didn't really mind waiting for his mom at the moment. the wind blew lightly, giving the leafs on the trees life as they move. feeling that slight chill in the breeze.

it was quite peaceful, although the screaming music through his ear was definitely the opposite of peaceful for most.

he was just about to text his mom and ask where she was when he felt someone grab his shoulder, he immediately jumped back out of surprise.

but when he turned his head the only thing staring back at him was Adam.

"hi." he said loudly. " jeez, looks like you're the one who should be paying attention now." he laughed out at Otis dramatic jump.

Otis a little embarrassed replied. " well i wasn't expecting some to basically shout in my ear." Adam laughed at that

"exactly! if you were paying attention you would've seen me coming" he said with a fake series tone. "you need to be prepared." he added after

"do i need to pay more attention or be prepared? you need to make up your mind." Otis joked back.

"both." he replied quick. "anyway whatcha doin?" he questioned. "i'm waiting for my mother to pick me up, but unfortunately she's running late." Otis groaned out.

"well that just means you get more time to talk to me." he said happily "also, what are you going to be doing once your mom picks you up?" he looked at Otis with a grin.

at that he kinda panicked. "oh, well i was planning on going to the mall" he stumbled out, and looked away from Adam.

"but i think my mothers having to work a little late tonight, so i'll probably just will walk home instead." he said returning his gaze back, trying to not sound suspicious. he wasn't lying but he still felt like he was.

Adam made a face, it looked to be as if he was thinking about something. "if you want i could just take you to the mall, then we could go together." he said almost shyly.

Otis panicked at a simple question before, this felt like it was going to kill him. how was he going to respond to this?

he think going to the mall with Adam would be fun, and it would be a great way to get to know each other more. they've still only known each other for a short couple of days.

"you don't have to if you don't want to. i could just take you home or, you could still walk, i don't mind either way." he added quietly after, looking away awkwardly as a result to Otis's deafening silence.

"that would cool, we could get to know each other more." Otis fastly choked out. he internally face palmed at that "who the fuck responds like that?!" he asked himself

Adam didn't seem to see anything wrong with what he said as he just replied with a happy smile. "cool, my truck just over in the school parking lot." he informed. "follow me."

"alright, i'm just going to shoot my mom a text really quick to let her know i'm going with you". Otis said, as he followed behind Adam on their way to his truck.

once they got to Adam's truck, they both hopped in. Adam turned on the engine and made his was out of the school parking lot.

Otis thought it was kinda funny Adam had a truck. he thought it was a very nice vehicle, it was quite clean and taken care of. it was just funny to him how incredibly different they were.

with Adam you could definitely tell he was from a small town, he wore blue jeans and plan t-shirts everyday, he had a small accent, and basically was a cowboy without the hat and boots.

no offense to him, but he looked very much like everyone else in this small southern town. thats kinda why Otis is so surprised Adam wants to be friends him.

Otis just had a tad bit of a more unique style, well unique to the area. you could say Otis was definitely more on the 'alternative' side.

that's why he didn't want to go shopping with his mother.

his clothing style and personality left him to be picked on a bit in middle school, by a couple of boys the year above, while it wasn't really bully's it still kinda sucked. even his friends at the time would often call him Emo.

"i'm kinda hungry, we should start at the food court before we go on our shopping spree." Adam said with a grin.

"i definitely agree" Otis responded

the drive was kinda long, some near 30 minutes. and yet the time flew by as the boys filled the car with nonstop chatter, just jokes and laughter, there was never a quiet moment.
