Soon enough the boys arrived at the mall, and were making their way inside. It's been quite some time since Otis has last been to this shopping center, he was interested in seeing what's new.
They walked side by side making their way to the food court.
"So any ideas of what you would like to eat? personally myself, i will definitely be getting the the funnel fries." Adam asked.
"That sounds nice. Are they good?" Otis responded.
"Oh, they aren't just good, they are amazing. literally the best thing i have ever put in my mouth." Adam exclaimed.
Otis laughed at his excitement over the simple treat. "Maybe we can get them for dessert. I think we should eat a proper meal first."
"That would probably be smart." Adam agreed. "So then any ideas?"
Otis thought for a second but nothing came to mind, so he took a look around at all the food stalls.
Then something caught his eye, a fancy looking restaurant with dark walls and deep blue accents. The place looked relatively out of place for a mall, it interested him.
"How about we go there?" Otis pointed the direction of the restaurant.
"That place looks nice, have you eaten there before?" Adam asked.
"Nope, never even heard of it, but i think it looks good." Otis smiled out. Adam laughed, finding his statement a little silly.
"Welp, let's go then!" Adam exclaimed, grabbing Otis's hand and pulling him along.
The boys made their way over to the fancy looking restaurant, entering in and walking over to the person standing at the desk.
"Hello! Table for two please." Adam declared with way too much enthusiasm.
The older lady standing there with an unimpressed expression just simply said "Follow me to your table." She walked off not even bothering to make sure they were following.
Otis and Adam quickly followed their way behind the lady, as they made their way over to the table.
They were lead to a table near the back kinda tucked into the corner, it was a booth seat. They took a seat as she asked "Here you are. Is there any drinks i can get started for you today?" She asked in a snippy tone of voice.
"Just two waters please." Adam awkwardly murmured.
Once she walked away the boys exchanged a confused look at the woman's terrible attitude, before Otis broke the silence with a light laugh.
"She was a delight" Otis sarcastically joked out.
"Definitely. I hope you don't mind i got you a water, i just said the first thing that came to mind." Adam explained.
"Oh, that's fine. I probably would've just gotten that anyway." Otis replied with a smile
At was really nice just being able to sit down and talk to someone. As much as Otis doesn't like to admit it, he really missed being able to just hang out with friends. He missed the normalcy of it.
Everything feels different now. He doesn't hang out with the people he used to, his grades are terrible, his mom's constantly worried about him. He kinda fucked up.
He wishes he could take everything back, but sadly it's too late for that.
He should probably be thankful his not hanging around the same crowd he used to anyway, they were the ones who first introduced him to the whole 'party life style'.
Thats how to got introduced to cigarettes, alcohol, weed, and some other things he doesn't ever want to even think about again.
Ok he can admit those people sucked, but they did know how to throw a killer party, even if it's on a random Wednesday afternoon.
"So what are you planing on getting?" A voice took him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see Adam looking at him with question.
Shit, he'd been staring at this menu for 5 minutes and still had no idea what was on it.
He really needed to stop drifting off to a fantasy land.
"I'm not for sure yet, everything looks pretty good." Otis said, hoping Adam wouldn't see through is half assed excuse.
He just smiled that felt a little too knowing, causing Otis's face to flush with a red tent. "I think I'm going to get the pasta with steak." He responded.
Otis thought that sounded disgusting, but he wouldn't dare tell Adam that.
He finally looked down at the menu in his hands and actually went through it this time around.
Everything looked so weird to him, he wasn't really one to branch out when it came to his meals.
He was worried he wouldn't find anything he would like, that is, until his eyes landed on a familiar dish.
Once he found what he wanted he relaxed a little and just enjoyed a conversation with Adam.
A couple minutes later a person walked up to their table, this time it was a younger looking girl, she was carrying two waters in her hand.
One she got to them she sat down the waters and quickly pulled out a note pad and pin.
"Hi my name is Claire, i will be your waitress" she quickly rushed out. "I'm sorry it took so long to get your drink we are a little busy." She explained.
"What can I get ya'll to eat" she asked next
Adam smiled up to her and gave her his order, once she got that wrote down she turned her attention to Otis. "And for you?" She questioned.
"Uhm, I think I just want the chicken tenders, the one off the kids menu." He answered her with an awkward smile.
She gave him a funny look but none the less wrote it down. "Is that all then?" She asked next.
"Yep, I think we're all good." Otis replied and looked over at Adam to confirm. He simply smiled and nodded back at the waitress in agreement.
"Alrighty! That should be out in no time." She said before she walked off, probably go put their orders into the system.
Once Otis returned his gaze back to Adam, he noticed he was giving him a funny look.
"What?" He stammered out to his look.
"You picked a nice restaurant just to get chicken tenders?" Adam teased. Otis's flushed face returned."Well I didn't expect all the meals so look so... un tasteful." He defended.
Adam just scoffed playfully
