Much to Otis's dismay, Friday came alarmingly fast. The school week was finally over and that meant it was party time.
Otis took his time getting home that day, he had until 7 before his 'friend' came and got him, but you best believe he was going to drag out that time as much as possible.
At first he really tried to convince Zack not to take him, insisting he could walk, but Zack refused. It was probably because he thought Otis would just not show up if he wasn't given a ride, which was a fair assumption cause he probably would've done that.
When he finally did make it home he ran up to his room and took a seat on his bed, his mom wasn't home yet otherwise he would've told her hi.
Speaking of him mother, he would be needing to leave out his window tonight, as she would never allow him to go.
She used to be pretty chill about him going to parties but, yet again, because of the incident she completely forbid him from doing any of that.
He used to not have a problem with that, honestly agreeing with his mother but now that wasn't an option. He didn't have a choice.
Otis sighed out at that, he really didn't enjoy lying to his mom.
Otis looked at the alarm clock beside his bed, it read 4:13. He took a whole hour to get home today.
He had about an hour until his mom would be home. He decided to take that time just to lay in his bed and endlessly scroll through his phone.
He was just looking through his social medias, doing nothing of importance.
He froze though, when he seen a picture pop up, it was one of those things on Snapchat of this day in other years or whatever, that wasn't what caught his eyes though, it was the photo.
It was a picture of his family, on a random dinner date, it made Otis smile. Everyone in the photo was smiling so widely, it was pure happiness caught on camera.
"Well fuck." Otis said to himself as he felt a small tear fall down his cheek. "I think I'm going to be needing those drinks tonight." he joked quietly.
He about to click on the picture until, he heard the front door opening, his mom was home. He quickly wiped the tear off his face and made his way down the stairs to greet his mom.
"Hay mom." he said as he gave her a big bear hug, he always did that when he's mom got home. "Hi hunny, How was your day?" She asked.
"It was fine, I'm feeling a bit sick though." He lied, he felt fine, he was just saying that so later when he goes to bed early it won't be suspicious.
"Are you alright?" She asked concerned, holding her hand up to his head to feel his temperature. "I'm fine, I just think I need some sleep. It's been a long day." He answered."Alright sweetie, Tell me if it gets worse though." She said softly. They made their way over to the living room and sat down. "Can we have pizza tonight?" Otis asked his mom.
"Sure hun." She smiled at him.
It only took about an hour for them to finish up dinner, it was around 6 now. Otis excused himself, saying he was going to bed, really he was going to go get ready for the party.
He was getting picked up around 7:45 so he had some time to fully get ready, thankfully. He wanted to look nice tonight, it was the first party he's gone to in a while and he wanted to enjoy it.
Plus he was seeing people he hasn't seen in quite some time, he wanted to appear put together. He wanted to seem like he's more mature now, not some wild party animal like he used to be.
He was starting to get a little nervous, he chose to ignore it and walk over to closet to find something to wear. He looked around for a while before, finally deciding on a pair of stone washed jeans and a black tank top with a light weight green jacket over it. He didn't want to show his arms for obvious reasons.
He walked over to his desk that had his jewelry on it, he put in a simple chain and three rings, two on one hand and one on the other.
He looked in the mirror and decided he liked what he was wearing, so his next stop was his bathroom. He quickly washed his teeth and put on some cologne.
He was about to leave the bathroom before he got an idea, he quickly opened a drawer and scrounged through it until he found what he was looking for, an eyeliner pencil.
He hadn't worn this in forever, he wasn't really a makeup guy, but this was his exception.
He got really close to the mirror, he took a deep breath and lightly rubbed it into his waterline, being careful not to over do it.
Once he was satisfied with the small amount of black under his eyes, he put the eyeliner pencil back in its spot and quickly made his way back into his room.
He checked the time, it was 7:26. He was doing good on time. He quickly collected his stuff, his phone, wallet, and a pack of smokes.
Once he was sure he got everything he made his way over to his window, he opened and looked down. He's room was on the second floor, but the ground was very uneven so it was risen near his window. There was still a drop but it wasn't as bad as some other parts of the house.
He swung his feet off the ledge and grabbed onto the edge of the house that stuck out, he took a deep breath and then swung his body out the window.
Once he did that he immediately put his feet on the shingles, once he got his feet stable he jumped the rest of the way down, he missed his footing though and ended up laying on the ground.
"Well that went better then expected." He quietly laughed at himself. Once he dusted himself off, he was quickly walking to the park that was right around the corner of his house.
He agreed to meet Zack here so his mom didn't find out he was leaving. Once he got there he took a seat at the park bench, waiting.
Soon enough a car pulled up to where he was sitting, but it wasn't Zack's car, it was Luke's.
Otis felt his stomach drop.
"Hay baby, hop in!" Luke yelled at him playfully.
