Getting in Adam's car was awkward.

Slowly opening the door, climbing in the seat, putting his seatbelt on. He felt the red flush on his cheeks.

"How are you?" It was a simple question, but it felt way too intense. Adam looked at Otis with a sympathetic look, or was pity? God Otis felt pathetic.

Otis avoided making eye contact, instead looking at the car door as he replied simple. "I'm fine." Otis cringed, his tone came out a lot more snappy then he meant it to.

"So anywhere in particular you wanna go?" Adam asked, ignoring the others tone. "I'm fine with anything." Otis just mumbling.

"Alrighty then." He said with awkwardness.

The drive was short. Soon enough, they were arriving at a small little cute cafe on the corner of the square.

Adam parked the car, turning to Otis with a big smile. "This place has the world's best fries."

They quickly made their way out of the car and into the cafe, taking the corner seat with the big windows.

After a couple of minutes of just siting there, staring into space, the waitress finally made her way over. She took their orders, as she wrote them down on her little notebook before, she cheerfully skipped her way back to put down the orders.

Otis went with Adam's recommendations. He ordered a basket of fries with a drink. Adam obviously got the same.

It didn't take too long until there food was ready and served. When Otis took a bite of one of the french fries, he was decently surprised with how crisp and warm they were. Adam definitely was onto something.

They eat in awkward silence, tension were high and the mood wasn't very bright. It was more than annoying. Why would Adam ask Otis to go out to lunch to talk about what happened, if he's not going to say anything?

"So, are you just not going to say anything?" Otis spat, Fed up with the silence.

Adam a little surprised with the suddenness. "Well, I was waiting for you to start."

"You're the one who told me to come, why would I start?" Questioned with annoyance. Otis knew he was taking his feeling out on Adam right now, he knew he would regret this, but he couldn't stop. He was just so overwhelmed and needed a release.

"I was just trying to let you go at your own pace" Adam said, with a gentle smile. He was definitely trying to de-escalate the situation.

"Well, that's dumb." He announced. "If you have questions ask them."

"I guess all start with, why were you crying?" Adam asked slowly, seeming to test the waters with his questions. Making sure not to offend Otis.

"I got in a fight with a friend." He lied. "What? Are you hurt?" Otis rolled his eyes "It wasn't that kind of fight." He sighed.

"Oh, then what was it about?" Adam questioned, his curiosity obviously in his eyes. "Nothing important."

"Obviously it was, you were crying?" The blonde mumbled, he seemed concerned. "Well it wasn't, ok?" Otis hissed. "I was just drunk, i didn't realize what I was doing."

"But you seemed scared? Like actually scared." Adam scooted closer to Otis, he put his hand on the others in a comforting gesture. "Can you just tell me what happened? So I can help?" He questioned sincerely.

This made Otis feel bad for lying. Adam was being so nice to him, and he was just lying right to his face. He felt like a piece of shit.

"Fine. My friend wanted to smoke with me, and I agreed. We got a little too high, and-" Otis took a deep breath before continuing. "He did something i didn't really like, we started arguing and it got a little heated. Ok?" He rushed out, avoiding eye contact at all costs.
