This happens like way before the events of the first chapter, way way way before.
Mari and Cloud were having a sleep over as usual, they were fast asleep... Except they weren't. Cloud slowly got up from his bed and tip toed to the washroom. Trying his best not to wake up Mari.
He does his business and he comes out to check on Mari again, still sleeping. So he slowly tip toes over to her and admires her beautiful face.
Cloud: "I envy the man who you would love... Not because he has you, but because he must be the most perfect man for you to choose him.
He says right before leaning in and gently planting a kiss on her forehead. He blushes so hard that he can feel the heat on his face so he quickly goes back to his bed and lays down, trying to fall back asleep and forget all this.
Mari was not sleeping, her face turned red only now but she was awake the entire time and... Actually, she couldn't sleep because she was alone in a room with Cloud. In fact she was planning to do the same thing. Walk up to him while he's sleeping and... Kiss him.
So it was a major surprise to her that he... He actually did it... He's so bold... And that's why she's in love with him. Anyways, Cloud was trying to sleep but he decided to send a quick message to the delinquents group chat saying "I'm leaving, bye." And with that, he places his phone on his table... And now, he's done everything he possibly can... To hopefully make her fall in love with him.
