Chapter 41

POV Katsuki

Today was the day. Izuku's appointment at the hospital was in just under two hours. Katsuki had been feeling a lot of anxiety from his mate all morning. It was hard not to get carried away. The alpha did his best to keep calm himself and radiate it. If he went crazy now, it would unsettle Izuku even more. It was only the first of presumably many more appointments and his nerves were already on edge.

"Is there anything I can do to help you?" Katsuki took a sip of coffee and watched his omega over the rim of his cup.

The greenette shook his head. He sat fidgeting on one of the bar stools in the kitchen, pushing his breakfast from one side of the plate to the other without actually eating.

"How about a cup of tea? You like the new kind, don't you?"

Izuku swayed his head back and forth thoughtfully before answering, "Okay."

Katsuki stood up and opened the kitchen cupboard, where various tins of tea had recently been lined up. He hardly ever drank tea himself, so he might have had one or two different kinds in the house before Izuku moved in. A few days ago, they had discovered that a good herbal tea definitely helped the omega to cope with his tension.

For this reason, Katsuki had even volunteered for a telephone consultation about herbal teas and then placed a large order in the store. The new tea had arrived yesterday and Izuku had already had a cup or two since then.

As soon as the drink was ready, he handed the cup to his partner, who accepted it with a mild smile. "Thank y-you, Kacchan."

"You're welcome." The alpha made himself another cup of coffee.

After breakfast, they went upstairs and got ready to leave. About ten minutes later, they were standing in the entrance area, ready to leave. The omega had his eyes firmly fixed on the floor. Katsuki tenderly lifted Izuku's chin. "I promise not to leave your side. If something makes you uncomfortable, tell me. If it gets too much for you, we'll go back home. We'll only do what you feel up to today, okay?"

Izuku's Adam's apple twitched as he swallowed hard. "But some doctors have traveled here especially for this appointment, didn't they?"

"Yes, so?"

"It would be i-impolite to waste their time l-like that," Izuku muttered.

Katsuki snorted. "I don't care. The appointment today is to make you feel better. If it has the opposite effect, we'll cancel it."

"All right."

A smile stole onto Katsuki's face and he pressed a quick kiss to Izuku's lips before grabbing his hand and opening the door. "Let's go then."

Fortunately, the front door could not be seen from the fence, so they were still safe from the paparazzi. Katsuki led his omega to the black SUV. Today he was doing without the flashy sports car that far too many people recognized as his. He wanted to keep as much stress away from Izuku as possible. The alpha opened the passenger door and helped him get in.

The security people knew about their appointment and opened the gate as soon as the car came into view. Of course, the reporters lying in wait didn't fail to notice and wanted to rush towards the car. The security stopped them.

As soon as Katsuki no longer risked running over one of these bastards, he stepped on the gas. When he reached the end of the driveway, he spotted one of the camera cars in the rear-view mirror. They weren't fucking serious, were they? The alpha bared its elongated fangs and growled. "Don't be scared, I'm going a little faster now."

Surprised, Izuku looked at him. "What i-is going on?"

"It looks like they're trying to follow us. Don't worry about it. I'll shake the fuckers off first."
