I gazed up at a clone of Will who had a sharper jaw, grey eyes and a manbun. I remembered him from the tenth door that the others had opened.
I didn't really catch his name, though.
I looked at his manbun.
Huh, maybe I'll get Will to try that sometime.
A guy beside Will 2.0 said,
"Short!"
He immediately bit his lip and blushed at the glare of Will 2.0.
"Excuse me?" I asked, finding their interactions funny.
Could they be?
Nah. No way.
Then, Will 2.0 put an arm over the guy's shoulder and said,
"Well, I vaguely remember you. The guy who said I looked like...Will Shoelace, right?"
I laughed and the guy shook his arm off, saying,
"Solace, dude. I wasn't even listening properly, but I remember. How come you didn't?"
Will 2.0 shrugged and whispered something inthe guy's ear that made him blush.
"Anyways, we should introduce ourselves, 'cuz I already forgot your names," Said the guy, shoving Will 2.0's face away.
"Right, I'm Magnus Chase and this here is Alexander Furniture," Will 2.0 said, I laughed.
Alexander smacked Magnus on the shoulder and said,
"Shut up, only I can do that. I'm actually Alex Fierro, not Alexander!"
"Wait, it's not?" Magnus asked.
"Dude, we literally know eachother for over a year now!"
I finally spoke in the middle of their bickering,
"Hey, maybe you should come in? I'm not sure about you guys since you're dead, but it's really cold outside."
I let them in, as Magnus asked,
"Guess 'Beth told you, yeah?"
I nodded, closing the door as I did so.
As I slowly closed the heavy door, I swore I sensed someone nearby.
I stopped and looked around. I let my senses feel the corridor and pinpointed an area behind the doors.
Since, I could sense dead people, sensing alive people was similar.
Rather than a cold statue, I felt warmth, the rushing of blood and the beats of a slow, calm heart.
Wait no.
Two hearts.
I went to see if anyone was there, but to no avail. It was an empty space. I leaned in closer and heard breathing before it stopped, suddenly.
I smirked and whispered,
"Try this shit again and I'll send my hell-hound after you creepy stalkers."
I went back inside and locked the doors, not before hearing,
"What in Merlin's Beard is a hell-hound?"
"Let's ask 'Mione, she might know."
Magnus and Alex looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"Nothing, just some rats," I said.
They probably won't ever come back so, there was no need to worry them.
I gestured at the large, white and soft couch with two single couches.
I expected them to sit separately considering how much they quarreled, but they both immedietely tried to sit in the same corner of the large couch and stared at eachother.
I waited.
Magnus blinked and Alex smiled.
He sat down onto the corner and Magnus sat beside him, leaving barely a millimetre of space between them.
"So, what's your name, again?" Alex asked, putting an arm over Magnus as I said in a single chair across them.
"Nico Di Angelo, just Nico is okay," I replied.
Alex stared at me for some moments and clapped his hands together before pointing at me and saying,
"Italian!"
"Jeez, Alex. It's like you found a new species," Magnus said.
"The only new species I've ever found was you. I mean, you eat and sleep so much, yet you're still so buff! That's clearly not human," Alex snapped back.
"I dunno how it works, either. I mean, you're so skinny that when I hug you in the morning, I literally felt your spine once, that's not natural, Alex!"
"Whatever, atleast I don't eat falafel everyday like you're gonna die tomorrow. Oh, wait."
"Pfft."
Magnus smiled and turned to face me,
"So, where are the others?"
I raised an eyebrow and pointed at the clock.
It read 3:00AM.
"Unless Leo is doing some sacrificial ritual for Satan, I don't think anyone but us is awake, right now," I said, tilting my head and crossing my arms.
"Actually, that seems kinda in-character for Leo."
"Huh, well, I guess that's okay," Alex said.
Magnus looked at him in confusion.
"I still feel queasy and crowds definitely would not help me."
Magnus nodded like he understood.
"Also, what was that about hugging me in the mornings? Are you why I keep getting nightmares about frigging ElastiLoki strangling me to death?" Alex asked, shuffling away from Magnus.
I smiled.
Did Magnus sneak into his room, or something? Maybe, they're roommates.
"Your fault for staying the night even when I warned you," Magnus said.
"When you said you get cuddly, I thought about nice, sweet, soft hugs. Not something to crush my ribs with!"
"I'm sorry, Alex~!"
"Shut up, I'm gonna make you break your legs ten times over when we get back to Valhalla."
Magnus blushed and we both stared at Alex with open mouths.
"What? Wait! Nonono, I didn't mean it like that!" Alex said, straightening up and laughing.
Magnus began to laugh and, so did I.
These two seemed really cool and I did need more friends, after all!
"Random question, what was it like when you two first got to Valhalla?" I asked.
Magnus thought for a while before answering:
"It was pretty crazy for me honestly. I wasn't even supposed to be there, I should've been in Vanaheim or whatever. I'm glad I did go to Valhalla, though. If I didn't, I never would've met Sam, Mallory, TJ and Halfborn. Oh, yeah, Alex too, I guess."
Alex glanced at him and said,
"Mango Cheese, you are my boyfriend, the Hel you mean, " I guess"?"
Magnus shrugged,
"Eh, you sorta decapitated me when we first met.
I mean, walking into my room when I was shirtless and kissing me, then leaving without much of an explanation is a pretty big leap!"
"What about when we nearly froze to death?"
"Yeah, I liked that one a bit more, I would've died without it."
I watched this whole exchange with interest.
Alex shrugged and said,
"Well, when I first came to Valhalla...it wasn't pretty.
I felt scared. Like, Sam told me that I'll never change, clearly she was talking about aging, but... The thought that I would be stuck as a stupid, teenage boy for eternity was... Mortifying.
That wasn't me. Not always, at least.
I mean, sometimes I'd rather be a stupid, teenage girl. It was scary."
Alex clenched his, or maybe her, fists.
Magnus wrapped his callused hand over it, looking at Alex with warmth.
Alex smiled and relaxed.
"Right, so. Can I ask, are you a guy or a girl?"
"Sometimes I'm a girl, sometimes a guy. Right now I'm..." Alex replied, directing the last bit at Magnus.
Magnus looked for a moment and said,
"Guy."
Alex smiled,
"Righto!"
I smiled, their whole thing was really cute.
I looked at the clock, it was pretty late.
I got up and stretched,
"Well, we should sleep. You guys can stay in my room for now, I guess!"
They thanked me and Magnus asked,
"What about the door to my room?"
"That thing poofed away as soon as we closed it.
"How sad," Alex said.
I smiled softly and led them to my room. I opened it and let them put their suitcase in a corner beside my desk.
They agreed to sleep on the floor and I would sleep on the bed.
I tried my best to let them sleep on the bed, but they were too stubborn.
I sighed.
I watched Magnus lay down beside Alex on two extra pillows I found. He immediately wrapped his arms around Alex, his nose brushing against Alex's neck. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Alex smiled and followed suit.
I laid down on my soft bed and pulled the covers over me. I closed my eyes and the darkness took over.
...
...
...
I woke up and felt something was off.
I sat up and looked over at the cuddling couple on my floor. Then, it hit me like a brick. (A certain blonde feels a sudden shiver down his spine in Elysium.)
It was a dreamless night.
