Stepping out of the car, I felt a wave of nerves wash over me. I'd never seen anything like this in person. The grandeur, the opulence-it was all overwhelming. As I walked towards the entrance, my heels clicking on the polished stone pathway, I couldn't shake the feeling that I didn't belong here.
The decorations inside were breathtaking. Every detail screamed wealth, from the crystal centerpieces to the intricate floral arrangements that lined the hallway. The rich scent of exotic flowers mixed with the faint notes of expensive perfume filled the air, making me feel almost dizzy.
My heart raced as I realized just how out of place I felt. I wasn't used to this world, the wealth, the luxury, and it was impossible to lie to myself no matter how much my friends pushed me through. I was now having serious second thoughts about attending.
No one from my friend circle was here to support me or make me feel at ease unlike the other times. I was surrounded by strangers, most of whom probably knew each other from similar exclusive events.
As I stepped into the hall where the party was in full swing, my nerves were still on edge. The room was filled with people chatting, laughing, and moving effortlessly in this world of luxury. I felt like an outsider, unsure of where to stand or who to talk to. But then, I spotted a familiar face.
The moment our eyes met, it was as if all the anxiety I had been carrying evaporated. His presence was like a soothing balm to my frazzled nerves. He smiled warmly at me, and suddenly, everything felt a little less intimidating. I managed to wish him a "hi" from the distance, which he responded to with that comforting smile of his.
I managed to find him amidst the chaos, just as I knew I would. No matter how crowded the place was, my eyes always seemed to find him. As I moved toward him, he noticed me too, and for a moment, it looked like he was just as eager to talk to me. But before I could reach him, his name was announced by Aanya for a song. With an apologetic glance, he had to move away, leaving me standing there, feeling the weight of disappointment settle in.
I watched him make his way to the stage and adjust the guitar he was handed.
As he strummed a few chords, the room fell into silence, and all eyes turned toward him. The crowd was completely absorbed, waiting for him to begin. Clearing his throat, he began
Ek ladki thi deewani si
Ek ladke pe woh marti thi
Nazre jhuka ke,sharma ke
Galiyon se guzar ti thiChori chori, chupke chupke
Chitthiyan likha krti thi
Kuch kehna tha shayad usko
Jane kisse darti thiJab bhi milti thi mujhse
Mujhse pucha krti thi
Pyaar kese hota hain?
Ye pyaar kese hota hain?Aur main bas usse yhi kehta tha.....
He effortlessly voiced the words, his ocean-blue eyes locked onto mine, as if they were meant just for me.
