Ten years passed since Aadrika and Devyaan had crossed paths, and in those years, they had both flourished in their respective careers.
Devyaan, now one of the youngest and most sought-after lawyers in the country, had built a name for himself with his sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail.
His days were filled with high-profile cases, client meetings, and courtroom battles, leaving him little time for anything else. He was constantly balancing between his work at the firm and his growing reputation in the legal world, but despite the pressure, his passion for justice kept him going.
Aadrika, on the other hand, had carved her own path in the fast-paced world of media. As a senior reporter and anchor at a renowned international broadcasting channel, she was often caught in the whirlwind of breaking news, investigative reports, and live broadcasts.
Her mornings were spent in the newsroom, while her nights were consumed by editing and prepping for the next day’s stories. She had earned respect in a field dominated by tough competition, and her work ethic had made her a force to be reckoned with.
Today, however, was a special day. It marked their third wedding anniversary, and Aadrika had made it clear:no extravagant celebrations, no grand gestures, just a simple day to reconnect.
The hectic schedules that had consumed their lives recently had kept them apart more than either of them cared to admit. It wasn’t that they weren’t happy; on the contrary, their careers were thriving, and they had everything they had ever dreamed of.
But the constant rush of their professional lives had created a distance, and today, Aadrika wanted nothing more than to be with her small family, to share moments without the interference of phone calls or work deadlines.
As Devyaan stirred the ginger and onion paste with the yogurt, the delicious aroma of the food filled the kitchen, and that's when he felt a tug at his legs. Turning around, he saw Aayaan, their almost one-year-old son, smiling mischievously, his face covered in mud from his latest outdoor adventure.
Aadrika entered the kitchen with their daughter, Devika, in tow. She placed her gently in one of the chairs before taking Aayaan from Devyaan’s arms and began to clean his muddy face.
"God, what am I going to do with him? Every time he goes to the garden, all he does is cover himself in mud," Aadrika sighed.
Devyaan smiled,as he looked at his son. "Sprinkles, he's just a baby. What else are babies supposed to do other than disturb their parents? Isn’t that, my boy?" he asked, planting a kiss on Aayaan’s nose, making the little one giggle with delight.
