Sacred Island

Not long after the news of Ultra's death did Jay, Lloyd, and Zane go back home to Ninjago yet Kai and Cole stayed. Though Cole may as well had left because Hiccup never saw Cole after the others had left, but according to Kai Cole was climbing the mountain on the island. The mountain Cole was also fixing after Lloyd blew a chunk of it off.

"It's this thing we all do when we experience a death in our lives. We always seperate for awhile to go do something that helps us work through the loss the best we can without each other butting in. Our powers can be dangerous sometimes when this stuff happens. We all love each other as family, but sometimes you just need to be alone to grieve," Kai explains to Hiccup after his twin questioned why they all left.

"Do you still come together to mourn?" Hiccup asks. Kai was holding Ember in his arms the little baby dragon resting peacefully on his lap. "In this case we prefer to mourn alone until we come back together and eventually talk through things," Kai answers. Hiccup's silent for a little. "I could never imagine loosing Tooth-less. I can't even begin to think of how I would be feeling in your shoes," Hiccup said trying to help his brother.

Kai purses his lips and looks out the open door of Hiccup's hut. "Thanks Bro, it's why I chose to stick around with you guys for longer. You all understand how much it could hurt to loose a dragon. This is actually the first time I haven't gone off to go fight some thugs. Usually I prefer getting my emotions out through punching," Kai explains and Hiccup nods glancing out at a window to see the snowy peaks of the islands mountains.

"What do you guys usually do? When you work through this stuff on your own?" Hiccup asks. Kai follows Hiccup's line of sight to the mountains and frowns obviously sad. "Zane goes to the place his father built him and looks back upon all their memories together, Jay goes to his parents and either builds stuff to make him feel better or his parents just help him out, Nya never really had any connection to Ultra so she feels sad, but she's probably just keeping busy while giving us space, Lloyd is always different but usually he always seems the most happy coming home, and Cole?...... Cole always takes loosing someone close to him the hardest. Harder than I do even," Kai admits looking back at Hiccup.

"Cole has a lot of faults and he does what he can to go through them, but whenever he looses someone he takes on the burden alone even when we try everything we can to help him he never wants to open up about it. It's like Master Wu once said "earth is strong and dependable. It never crumbles no matter the pressure that is placed upon it," Kai rolls his eyes.

"So Cole always climbs a mountain whenever he feels like this. He's done it since before he became a master of earth. Cole hates dealing with death so he climbs as far from his element as possible," Kai explains.

"Why does he do that? I thought you said elemental masters gravitate towards their elements when they feel vulnerable?" Hiccup asks forgetting the somber topic and his curiousity winning over. Kai shrugs. "Like I said Cole never shares his thoughts or problems in times like these. He's never even lost control before like we have. I just know that out of all of us? Cole had the strongest bond with Rocky.... I'm scared of him snapping," Kai said and Hiccup frowns again as the somber mood returns.

Hiccup scoots over to Kai and gives him a side hug. "Just know you both can stay here as long as you need Kai. I'm always here for you," Kai looks at Hiccup and smiles. "Thanks Bro," he said.

There's knocking on Hiccup's door so the one legged twin opens the door seeing Astrid there. She peeks inside Hiccup's hut and was not surprised to see Kai inside there either but she focuses on Hiccup.

"Hope I wasn't interrupting anything but a Terrible Terror just sent us this message from Mala," Astrid hands Hiccup a small scroll and he unfurls it.

Walking over Kai peers at the scroll yet the ninja still doesn't know any viking literature. "What does it say?" Kai questions.
