Hiccup has to say he did enjoy last nights celebration. Almost everyone had gotten up to regale the village with a special memory they had for the great protector and the celebration ended with Mala declaring how while the old protector will be missed she was unworried for the future since they left behind a worthy heir.

After the celebrations Hiccup left to retire for the night in the huts Mala had given them, but on the way he ran into Kai on the outside of the hut talking on the phone, but Hiccup only managed to catch half of it.

"Yeah it was really scary I thought he was going to split the island in two. I've never seen him like that," Kai talks and after a moment he responds. "Well he mentioned this scary story his mom used to tell him and then Throk insulted her," Kai explains. Kai's eyes suddenly widened and he stood up. "Holy FSM your right! Cole never talks about his mom! Can't believe I didn't realise," Kai said. There's more talking. "I'm giving him some space. I tried helping him out but he's gotten really bent out of shape over this whole changing of the guard celebration. If I knew it had to do with celebrating a dragon who's dying I would have just stayed with him on the edge. Honestly it's making me feel anxious myself. Never would have come with Cole if I knew all this before," Kai said.

There's more talking and Kai sighs tired. "Yeah yeah Ultra is in a better place now I know. I'm glad to hear Lloyd's already back. Maybe if he wants we could broach the subject of getting him a pet again? It might be a little soon but he's been mentioning it for awhile. It won't replace Ultra, but I think he could really like it," Kai said and whoever was on the other end makes Kai smile with a soft laugh.

"Yeah I'll tell Cole about your idea Jaybird. I'm not actually against it but I don't know how that will work with Zane. You got it handled do you okay," Kai said and then finally notices Hiccup. "I gotta go guys. I'll tell Cole you said love and make sure Nya doesn't work herself into a coma love you bye," Kai hangs up and turns to full face his elder twin.

"Didn't mean to eavesdrop," Hiccup assures a little embarrassed to be caught even if he wasn't really trying to hide his presence. Kai waves it off with a good natured smile. "Eh not like we were really hiding anything. I just called Jay and Zane. They're back already since they had to be called away for a mission in the city. Check out some recent criminal activity so they can nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem," Kai explains.

"Good to hear. What about Cole is he okay?" Hiccup questions. Kai frowns and shakes his head. "Somethings up with him and I think it's a lot of big things merging together to be even bigger. I'm just giving him time to cool off," Kai explains. Hiccup nods hearing that. "And mind if I ask what set him off in the first place?" Hiccup questions.

Kai frowns and shakes his head. "Sorry bro but it's private and even I don't know the entire story," Kai explains and Hiccup nods accepting the answer and respecting the boundaries.

"Okay, well it's late. You want to bunk with me?" Hiccup offers. Kai grins and suddenly bolts past him. "I call top bunk!" Kai exclaims. "What Kai! Give me the top Bunk or Tooth-less will suffocate me!"

Kai got top bunk and Tooth-less did indeed lay his heavy head on Hiccup's chest the entire night making it a little difficult to breath, but Hiccup was too sweet to push him away.

In the morning everyone gathered around the table and helped themselves to some left over food from last night with Mala and Throk. Throk was mostly silent his throat recovering from Cole's ordeal. Looking around at all the riders that had gathered around the table Hiccup frowns. "Has anyone seen the twins? I mean when was the last time they missed a free meal," Hiccup asks conversationally. "Or Cole? He'd never pass up a meal even if he's upset," Kai asks not seeing his black ninja boyfriend.
