(I'm still working on the sequel, but I got inspired for this one shot)
Hiccup was with Fish-legs exploring a cave system in their island on the Dragons Edge. Originally the whole thing started when Fish-legs was left alone in charge of the Edge, monsterous nightmare gel was used, and Fish-legs briefly became the king of semi albino night terrors.
Anyway when Fish-legs was in the cave he discovered ancient viking texts which is what made the riders all return to inspect the cave inscriptions yet only Hiccup or Fish-legs were really interested in them.
"Just look at this Hiccup. These drawings must be centuries old," Fish-legs said in awe.
Hiccup agrees. "We knew that Vikings had already been to the island after seeing the twins claim stone, but this is another level all together," Hiccup agrees as they look over the runes.
"Old words from old dead Vikings. Awesome," Snot-Lout said bored. "No one is making you be here Snot-lout," Astrid said rudely from her spot leaning against Stormfly.
"But I am here yet you're not all taking the proper time to bask in my glorious presence," Snot-lout said self importantly.
Fish-legs moves his hand over one of the inscriptions and squints making a face at it. "Hiccup look at this. It says here that the key to sealing away destruction and creation is with a sword, but the rest of the cave writings talk of a great evil from beyond the realm," Fish-legs said squinting.
Hiccup goes over and looks at the inscription. It was true that so far the translations were really odd. They spoke in a way no other viking writings did, and they seemed to have been written with great urgency and sloppy. Hiccup might have even just assumed this was just something the twins ancestors did if it wasn't for the ancient sword that Fish-legs had found with it.
Hiccup moves his hand over the writing and then pauses. Confused he moves back and felt over the key word again pushing his palm against it and found that it sunk into the wall like a button.
Everyone steps back as they heard sounds from behind the cave wall and then suddenly the wall made a clean split right down the middle of it. It parts opening up revealing a pitch black room behind it.
"Wow," everyone said in awe. "Awesome!" The twins exclaim. Everyone and their dragons entered it since it was big enough for both parties. When they enter torches on the wall lit up with light frightening them, but what really frightened them was the fact the torches were lit with a low purple fire that didn't provide any warmth and not much light.
Still it was enough that they could make out words and drawings on the walls that lead down to a long hallway instead of a room.
"Look at these drawings. These aren't Viking drawings," Astrid comments looking at an image of a snake.
"You're right Astrid," Hiccup agrees looking at an image of a man sporting an odd pose and the fact they looked nothing like a Viking.
"Hiccup look at this!" Hiccup runs over to Fish-legs who was excitedly pointing at an image. In it there was a drawing of a Viking men, a army or tribe maybe shaking hands with a old man and behind him was a smaller group of people wearing distinctly different and non viking clothing and armour and all of them had some type of symbol on their clothing, but six in particular stood out to the group. There was also writing, half of it, the half under the viking tribe was viking, but the other half.
"That's Ninjagian. Hiccup! Our ancestors had previous contact with Ninjagian! Maybe even previous elemental masters!" Fish-legs exclaimed excited pointing at the painting.
Hiccup was also memorized by this discovery. Hiccup had breifly researched if Elemental masters had ever been a thing before but the closest thing they had to them was the power of the gods and nothing that even resembled Ninjagian was found.
