"Jooyeon, we have to talk to you" His mother suddenly said as she came up to his room. He wouldn't have noticed her if he didn't see her waving in his peripheral.

Confused, Jooyeon scrambled to put on his hearing aids, struggling to stand up from his beanbag before he finally managed to do it, walking after his mother.

Downstairs, Jooyeon slowed down when he noticed Jiyun's parents standing there. Without their daughter. Where was she?

The parents seemed to notice his confusion. Mrs Son sighed, looking down on the floor as tears filled her eyes, Mr Son looked more serious.

"Jooyeon" the man's voice sounded, loud and intimidating as usual. Jooyeon had to restrain a shrug. The situation seemed to be serious.

Based on how her mother was like at the moment, he assumed she died. No, this wasn't possible.

He just texted her last evening, apologizing that he never got the chance to tell her that from the start. She couldn't be dead.

Jooyeon just decided to wait up until Mr Son continued talking, which happened rather fast. "Jiyun ran away from home."

Silence. Jooyeon needed some moments to register the said things. Then it hit him. "What?" The teen looked at his parents, waiting for some kind of approval. And they nodded. It was true.

"But... Why?" The Son's didn't know themselves. "She just wasn't in her room this morning. She found out that the occurring marriage is just arranged. Did you tell her?"

Jooyeon didn't answer at first, looking around and taking in his surroundings. His otherwise big and comfortable living room suddenly seemed so small, as if the walls kept coming closer, trapping him right where he stood.

Then he nodded. "Yeah, I did. She has the right to know." His mother was upset because of his answer. "She ran away because of you!" Her shrill loud voice made Jooyeon cover his ears, the noise repeating in his hearing aids over and over again, a loud contoured peeping echoing in his head.

So Jooyeon took them off again, preferring the sickening silence over the screams about how it was his fault that the girl decided that she couldn't continue living with her parents.

He himself didn't know that Jiyun had plans to escape. How could it be his fault? They really thought that it'd be better if she found out midst marriage.

Without saying anything more, Jooyeon just stormed up the stairs to his room, (luckily) not hearing Mrs Son and his own mother shout that he isn't allowed to go anywhere.

Locking the door, Jooyeon let himself fall down on his bed, thinking. The marriage couldn't be the only reason why she ran away, right?
