Days later...
Chosen looked at Diamond's sister and mother.
It had been a few days since her funeral and it was obvious everyone was still registering what happened as they eyed him with conviction.
He knew there was no real reason for the hate since they wouldn't even bother to help her take care of Chloe in the first place.
"So your telling me my daughter left full custody to a stranger?" Her mother asked the social worker as she pointed to Chosen and the woman nodded.
Diamond's mother reluctantly stood up and passed Chosen Chloe.
The baby had been crying the entire time reaching for Chosen.
This was the first time she had quieted down since they took her at the funeral.
Chloe rubbed her face onto Chosen's chest and his heart hurt for her.
Diamond's death made no sense.
It wasn't supposed to be happen.
"What about Chance?" He mumbled out loud and everyone looked at him.
Her baby dad was responsible for the shooting so of course he was in jail. Chosen couldn't recall when the club got shot up but it wasn't as if it never happened before. Just never in the club and out of all people it was never supposed to be Diamond.
"If you want to contest it you can take him to court but Chloe and her things-" The social worker started.
"We bought all that." Her mother said quickly.
"I just want something she can remember her mom by but yawl can keep errything else that Diamond bought for her." He said and her sister looked at him.
"Actually, no all of that shit in there is hers. I want yawl to fuckin know I know yawl ain't buy shit or help Diamondl but if this your last lil petty stance keep this shit. Coco is good." He said and they looked at him like he was crazy.
"Lil boy-" Her mother started.
"What was you fuckin her?" Her sister asked and Chosen ignored her.
"Ima go to her room if yawl wanna follow me." He said and her mother rolled her eyes.
"I think he is being reasonable considering everything belonging to this child is supposed to go with her." The social worker reminded her as she stepped in between them.
Chosen stood up and without a word headed to Diamond's room.
It felt surreal as he looked down at Chloe.
It made him a little happy to know she wanted Chloe to be with him and just like he had done before he promised to always take care of her.
Chosen opened her room door.
It wasn't as if he was a stranger but he was.
He was in a place he had never been.
The room was pink. It held a large queen-size mattress and a crib in the corner. The closet was nearly busting out of its seams with clothes. All of which was sure Diamond had gotten her.
The woman watched as he comfortably walked into the room and grabbed the known favorites of Chloe before grabbing Diamond's diary. It was hidden under her bed and he grabbed the book with Chloe's name on it. Diamond had always made sure that Chloe was straight, little did they know. That was really because her family was unreliable and the same with Chloe's father and his family. So all that dancing and being broke had gone into a savings for her daughter, in her name.
