On mornings like these
I sigh and open my window
Let new light in
Now I'm listening
I wander these streets
The daylight warms what I have left
I walk on
This place is nothing
Without you
These hills I wander
Wondering when you'll pass by
Wave hello or disregard me
Only me
Only you
I wonder many things
Are you listening?
A father and a son
They were one
Each stride gingerly in the street
Silver wheels and two hearts
I smiled as they passed
Stride by stride
With pride, his father smiled
Smiled at me
Smiled at him
Smiled at the sky
As it shone down on them
I haven't heard from Heaven in a while
But on days like these I feel so close
A piece of it is in what I seek
What I've seen
What I will become
Every time I see these midday skies
The clouds and blemishes before me
The evening closes in
And I think of you
I wish I could stop
I wander these streets
Like you used to
Letting new light in
As more is shed onto me
I've been listening
I think about you
The days close in on me
Two hearts and several strides
I wonder many things
I think about you
And who you used to be.
