World of Promise (7/11/24)

First there was a call

Arch of every angels

It visited you before me

Taking you in its warm arms

To be safe and beautiful forever

Then there were the messages

The words

The voices

The truth of it all

I froze in my tracks

The world refused to stop for me

My fury bursting with each aching stride

My distance destroyed itself

My spirit numbing me to the bone

At nightfall there was quite a scene

A screaming magpie caught my attention

Outspoken and vibrant

As if you were watching through and through

By daylight I was shaking

No dreams, no wishes

Just, "Why?"

Making my way around the streets

What was close to a world away

The numbers come and go

As people do

So I thank you for your visit

And rich promises

Before the storm

The crowded clouds interrupted

The horizon of halos

A rainbow

Shone through

Magpies and rainbows

This is the end

A beautiful end

This story I have heard before

Long, long ago

In a land that wasn't my home

I wanted to go home

Not a world away

But the world above

These promises change my mind

Fragments of Heaven

Beautiful halos

Keep me and your memory alive

Alas I appreciate

When I am still here.
