Rain washing away
Marker-drawn tattoos on my thighs
That I drew for you
Temporary tattoos
And so were you
Rain washed it all awayI wrote your name all over me
You were all I ever wanted
Until I realized I only loved you
Temporarily
When afternoon became evening
I knew it was best
That I'd be leaving
A night on the town
All alone in our hometown's streets
No one else came out at night back then
Another time
Another life
Another love
Another me
Temporary
When afternoon became evening
And no one had my back
I still have the photos of the blue skies
The angelic clouds
My shattered gaze
The sunset in the distance
As raindrops graced my skin
Slipping between my fingers
And washing away my words for you
About you
All for you
I still see the blue skies
Littered with clouds as the sun filters through
The horizons that I see
Distant and dear
But I know I'm not alone anymore
I drew my love for you on my body
I wrote your name
Ingrained in my memory
Staining my skin and finger tips
As the rain washed it all away
On days like these
I see the blue skies
I remember the love and the lies
I'm thankful for the rainstorms
That wash away my memories
Of you.
