Chapter Thirty-Six

The hall is empty and dark, only the moons and stars gave light to it.

Here I am, standing on top of everything yet I feel down. Sooner, there will be vanished souls I will witness before my eyes.

Is this a Queen thing? Is this what a Royalty should do? Wait for the enemies to attack first? But Immortals don’t attack but demons do. The attack, we defend. As it usually does.

The wind whispered and warned me that there’s someone near.

“Greetings! Your Highness, the Empress summoned you to her room. It is urgent, she said.”

  It was a messenger.

“Return to her and tell her Majesty that I will be resting and we will meet tomorrow.” I said. He bowed his head and disappeared from thin air.

  ‘Here we go, again.’

  I sighed. What a day!

“Everyone left yet you remain here, alone.”

It was him, as always.

“Why should you care?” I replied without looking at him.

“Sorry, I forgot. You’re the Empress’ daughter, the bravest and strongest general and the most powerful Goddess of the realm. Who am I to question your actions?”

I don’t know pero madali akong mapikon at magalit. It’s like I’m short-tempered Immortal or most likely the attitudes of demons. Psh! I’m no demon! But I can be as mean as them...

“Tama ka nga, ako ang may hawak at ang mas may kapangyarihan dito sa mundo natin, kaya mag-ingat ka... anak ka nga ng isang Hari pero—” Natigilan ako nang humakbang ito papalapit pa sa akin.

Napansin kong may napadaang katulong kung kaya’t sinenyasan ko siyang tumigil.

“We should speak the mortal’s language here. Enemies are everywhere...”

“Then, we should talk elsewhere...” he said.

“I think we have nothing to talk to, besides, you’re not a member of the council.”

Immortal’s don’t usually sweat but I do. What the—

“—it was before, dati pa ‘yon. Those times were over, ‘yun ‘yung mga panahong kinukuha ko pa ang tiwala niyo although hindi niyo naman ako pinagkatiwalaan diba?”

He laughed. “The how did we even get here kung hindi ka namin pinagkatiwalaan? Silly...”

I shrugged. “I don’t know? Kasi alam niyong may pakinabang ako at magagamit niyo ako? Ganyan naman kayo di ba?”

I should make that a joke but I looked serious. He won’t take that to heart, will he?

He looked around and nodded like he was just listening to my stories. Natahimik siya.

“Bakit hindi ka makasagot? Natamaan ka yata? Just like what you did to every humans you encountered... ginamit niyo din ako.”

“Goddess Yllani, minamaliit mo naman kami, especially me. Well, that will be a good reason to strive and thrive to exceed your expectations on me, Your Highness?”

Napa irap ako. “Go and strive more. I don’t mind seeing your body vanish in the war...”

“Well, mukhang ayaw mo talaga sa akin? Gustong gusto mo talagang mawala ako...” He said. “As the future Empress, how could you be this cruel? Seeing your people suffer and die easily?”

“Hindi ganon ‘yon! I can give up everything just to protect the three realms! Ni hindi niyo nga nalaman ‘yung intention ko diba? Why I’m eager to find all of you?” I smirked.

‘So I can inherit the throne and be the Chief of Gods...’ I said these words inside my head.

“To prove that I am powerful. To prove that you all are weak. To make you all a laughingstock in this world,”

I thought I’ll be seeing him laugh or play along with me but he stood still, looking at me.

I can sense pain in his eyes. Am I too rude to say that?

I felt a little ache in my heart. What the fudge?

  Nakokonsensya ako!

I shook my head. “Just go away, will you? Isama mo na din ama mo, please, tell him not to interfere with my future plans. Just cooperate.” Sabi ko at tumalikod na.

Hindi ko naman siya dapat kausapin ah? Napatagal yata ang conversation namin. Well, it’s an honor.

As soon as I faced my back, I saw Rhichen walking towards us. She smiled and bowed, “Your Highness...”

  Huminto ako at tumango.

Nandito ba siya para kay Zyro? Aba syempre!

I laughed inside my head. Napaka judgemental ko naman.

  “Excuse me...”

I looked around, I wasn’t surprised to see my old toys in the shelf. Even though I grew up as a mature Goddess, I can’t forget my days as a child wherein I enjoyed my time alone, studying and learning things I’m using now.

I can’t help but snapped and lighten up the room to see more of my things.

It was all me and my mother. I was sitting in her lap while smiling when I was still a child and a painting wherein I was standing right at her side with a blank expression when I finally grew up.

I can feel the pain as I compare them both. Not because of loss of happiness on my face but the absence of two important things I lack.

The presence of my father and his love for me...
