Hi, so this is my first ever fanfic. Every chapter has amazing music in it for you picked out by me, that go with the chapter in one way or another. :P They are all songs from the 2000s and 90s because this is set in 2003/04-ish (End of 3rd season).
I've been writing this for so long ready and now I'm starting to finally post chapters! I'll try and post them every 1-3 days!
Let me know what you think, and enjoy!
On the outside, I was motionless. On the inside, I was screaming frantically searching around the hall for some kind of escape. I thought I could last till the end of the period, but I couldn't. I was in Tuesday 7th period PE, we were playing basketball, and I was sitting at the end of the substitute bench, along with the other 'weird' kids that weren't good at sports. The ball flying in all directions was keeping me on edge. I was very much overheating. The loud squeaking of shoes, the overbearing stench of sweat, the ball bouncing, the yells and cheers, they weren't helping. I had to get out of there. My eyes fell onto one of the emergency exit doors.
No way I'm getting outta there without anyone noticing.
My eyes wandered further around the hall, the sweaty figures of players obscuring my vision. I saw the main doors, which were also out of option, and then my eyes set on the colossal black curtain dividing the two halls. Through the small gap next to the wall, I could see that the other hall was empty. The bench was only a few meters away from the curtain, and I didn't think anyone would even notice if I just slipped through. Half of the people here don't even know or remember my name.
Before I had time to begin overthinking this matter, I swiftly got up from the bench and after three strides I was in the other hall. I peeked through the gap next to the wall, and sure enough, no one batted an eye. Everyone was too busy watching the game. The sounds of the game were now muffled. The sun shined through the long row of windows onto the wooden floor in warm, bright patches. I glanced at the big digital board that would usually display basketball game scores, but was now showing the time in bold red numbers. I could barely see because of how bright it was. I squinted. It was 14:37. 23 minutes left.
I was sweating, the PE halls had no ventilation what so ever. It would be a good idea to get some fresh air. I walked past the folded blue bleachers to the other end of the hall with the exit. My ponytail swung from side to side behind me. I pressed the bar to open the door, heaved it open, and escaped the stuffy hall.
The sun blinded me, but the cool early summer breeze was a relief to my sweaty body. The two perfectly balanced each other out. I carefully closed the door behind me. My red and white baggy tank top and shorts drifted in the gentle wind. I'd get in through the main door and arrive in the changing rooms just in time to go home. I would've just went home now, but I knew the changing rooms were locked.
I decided I would wander around the outside of the gym hall, marked with concrete slabs. The little trees and the grass quivered in the breeze. I strolled past the corner dreamily. Suddenly something slammed into me.
"Shit!" A boys voice shrieked. I whirled to the ground, feeling sharp pain in my knee as it skidded on the concrete. I caught myself on my elbows as I fell on the grass.
"What..?" I muttered as I rolled over and sat myself up with my legs pulled up in front of me. I saw a boy about my age with spiky bleached hair picking himself up.
"I'm so sorry." He held his hands in front of him, kneeling on the grass, worried and panting. I'd never seen him before.
"It's okay." I said as I inspected my bleeding knee. Eugh. It was red and orangey on the inside with a ring of dirt around it.
"Oh my god! Please don't kill me!" He screamed, shuffling away, as he noticed my graze.
"I won't." I laughed, confused. He looked so comically, genuinely worried. He stopped shuffling, looking embarrassed. He watched me, unsure of what to do. I stared at him awkwardly, trying to think of something to say. Whenever I was around any people I haven't known for years, It was as if I'd lost the ability to speak. Luckily he spoke up before I could start internally screaming at myself to just say something.
"I'm Reese by the way." He gulped.
"I'm Georgia." I smiled. Him starting a conversation made it so much easier.
"What are you doing here anyway?" He asked, as he reluctantly scooted closer to me again.
"Uh... Just wandering about..." I was slightly embarrassed to admit that I was skipping class. I winced at the pain in my knee as I picked at it, pulling out tiny bits of concrete and dirt.
"Aren't you meant to be in class though?"
"Well... yeah, but then aren't you also?"
"W-"
"What's going on here?" The head teacher, Mr Wilson, came around the corner, his arms folded smugly. My heart jolted. "Looks like we've got detention for two." I looked at him in shock and disgust. He was wearing a blue shirt with a brown tie, cotton trousers and brown leather shoes. And he was drenched in sweat. "Wilkerson, you want to get suspended again?" He hollered at Reese. He turned his gaze to me. "And... I'm sorry, but who the hell are you??"
