Right so I know this song wouldn't have existed in the 2000s but it's so underrated and if I hadn't said that you'd have thought it was from the 80s sooo... Anyway, hope you like today's chapter (I was meant to post it a few chapters ago but then I forgot so i had to change it) <3
The rain from yesterday continued into today.
"Emma, so what even happened yesterday?" I asked her in first period, which we had toghether.
"Oh, it doesn't matter, forget it." She dismissed. Didn't I have the right to know why I was treated like downright shit?
She was actually being nice to me the whole time, and so now I felt guilty. But at lunch it was back to normal. I didn't even see her, but Kaitlin told me they went to Walmart. Emma didn't even care enough about me to tell me.
Me and Reese walked home toghether after school, and boy if it was raining before, it was straight up flooding at this point.
"You're not gonna walk all the way home in this are you?" He asked.
"I am."
"No, come on. It's pouring. Come to my house until it clears up."
"If it will clear up." I muttered.
"You're literally shivering..." He wasn't wrong.
He'd convinced me. We went into his house, which was identical to mine from the outside. I closed the door behind us, and we took off our soggy shoes.
A simple man with brown hair in an office shirt and tie, who I assumed was Reese's dad but I'd never actually met him yet, peeked around the corner.
"Oh, Reese. Who's this?" He asked, taken aback.
"I'm Georgia." I smiled awkwardly.
"Oh. okay." He flashed a little smile and walked off. Huh. Weird.
"I've literally told him about you before." Reese whispered in my ear once he'd gone.
Reese took me to his room and gave me a t shirt, a flannel and jeans to change into. I went to the bathroom to get changed. I peeled my sopping clothes off and put his on. They were all way too big for me. They were definitely hand me downs from his older brother, Francis. Once I got dressed, I just stood for a minute, admiring the soothing smell.
I hung my clothes on the radiator like Reese told me to, and then we went to the living room.
"Dewey, Malcolm, could you please make space on the sofa?" Reese asked.
Dewey and Malcolm stared in horror and hurriedly shuffled over. Me and Reese both sat down.
They both seemed to be really scared of me for some reason. First time Reese introduced us to each other the two of them exchanged astounded looks. Their whole family seemed super shocked when they first saw me for some reason.
"What is this rubbish?" Reese outraged at the game show that was playing.
"It was the only thing on." Malcolm replied wearily. Reese grabbed the remote and started flicking through the channels. After a few minutes, the TV started cutting out to static. Malcolm groaned.
"NOOOO!" Dewey screeched.
"Are you kidding me?" Reese whined.
I veered around to look through the window. The rain was threatening to smash the windows and the clouds looked dangerously dark.
"It's the thunderstorm." Malcolm muttered, in a jaded smartass way.
"Boys, it looks like you'll have to do something else." Their dad stated as he walked past.
"There is nothing else to do in this house!" Dewey spat and stormed off.
"He's right..." Reese muttered.
"Don't you guys have board games or something?" I asked. Surely there was something to do.
"Yeah." Malcolm sighed and went to their room to get it. He came back with a game called March and Conquer and Game of life.
The three brothers realised they really had nothing better to do, so they explained the rules to me and then we started playing.
I got to know all of them a little bit better. Because as much as I'd been in Malcolm and Dewey's house, we'd never actually interacted before.
Malcolm was a year younger than me, and definitely a huge smart ass. Dewey was 8, a pretty sweet and cute kid, but I could tell that he could be a seductive little menace.
Even when it stopped raining, I still stayed at their house. I only went home past nine, because I knew mom would be back home soon.
