The next morning Carlina awoke to the sunshine streaming in through the windows, she slowly sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, stretching she let out a low groan as her back popped. It had been a good while since she had a decent nights rest, slipping on her dark grey robes she slipped on her silver plated armor, clipping her sabers and mask at her side she headed out. She was on her way to the gardens for one last stroll when she was tackled down,
"Carlina!" She laughed as the two fell to the ground,
"Ahsoka!" Another person ran up out of breath.
"Ahsoka, you run to fast."
"Then maybe you should learn to keep up Sky Guy!" Carlina hid a snicker behind her hands,
"Sky guy?" Ahsoka laughed and helped her friend up, she admired how her oldest friend looked in the morning sun, her honey colored hair shone like gold, her deep blue eyes were soft and kind.
"Are you okay little Ahsoka?" "Oh yeah I'm fine, don't worry about me." Carlina raised an eyebrow but brushed it aside,
"Master Skywalker, it's been a while."
"A while, try two years! How is my favorite grey Jedi?"
"Doing well, glad to see that the war hasn't dulled your sense of humor." He laughed lightly,
"I've had my moments but nothing could dull my sense of humor, not by a long shot." He replied lightly punching her shoulder, "I was about to head to the gardens for one last stroll, but perhaps you two would like to join me for breakfast instead." Ahsoka looked at her master who nodded, "We would be delighted to join you for breakfast!" Carlina grinned, "Perfect!" Carlina looped her left arm in Ahsoka's and her right arm through Anakin's arm, she grinned at both of them, when they reached the dining room they sat down and watched as a few droids placed some food in front of them. "Oh sweet, pancakes!" Carlina exclaimed digging into the fluffy pancakes with much enthusiasm. Anakin laughed then remembered that she hadn't eaten pancakes in nearly two years, "So Carlina, tell me about the temple on Lothal." She wiped her mouth before speaking, "Well for one, I rarely got visitors so it was lonely. On the other hand it was peaceful and quiet, the temple has much to offer. I was taught many things despite my short time being there. "Ahsoka let out a small giggle, "Is there an issue?"
"Girl, you were gone for two years, that feels like an eternity." "And your attitude is still one to be questioned little one." Anakin warned, Carlina raised a hand motioning to him that her comment was not offensive, "Two years is a long time, but for me it seems not that long. Time is funny at the temple, when all you do is sit and meditate you loose all sense of time."
"So why did you come back? If you dont mind me asking." Anakin asked somewhat dreading the answer, "A vision, I had a vision. I guess I'm to go to Kamino and help a group of clones with their missions. Kind of strange isn't it?"
"I guess, I thought Grey Jedis were supposed to be neutral." Ahsoka said, "They are, but as you know the force has a way of bringing a Jedi to their true callings in life, I guess mine is with the war." "I wish you the best of luck Carlina, your not experienced with the arts of war."
"Hence why I'll be on Kamino, Shaak Ti will help me train along with the group known as clone force 99." The two Jedi's shot up at the mention of clone force 99. Carlina sighed, "What?" "Clone force 99?" "Yeah whats so wrong with that?" Anakin grabbed her shoulders, "Clone force 99 is the best force that the Republic has, they never have Generals for a reason, they have a system."
"Okay? But It cant be that bad." Ahsoka was next to grab her shoulders, "We aren't saying that it's bad, we're just telling you to be mindful of what your getting into."
